[short]
The nervous drumming of your fingers against the white parcel in your lap was as relentless as it was loud.
You were so frozen with tension it felt like you must have aged a decade in the past few hours.
Sitting on your back porch, even under the warmth of the early morning sun, you still couldn't stop shaking.
It wasn't just the arctic cold that had settled into your core, it was the weighted stress of the mysterious delivery.
If you had stayed up watching TV all night it wouldn't have made any difference to your exhaustion.
By the morning the bedsheets were in a knot around your legs, and except for the few times you fell into a short fit of vivid dreams you didn't sleep a wink.
It was as if the package you couldn't bring yourself to open was cursing you to feel even more horrible and anxious than you already felt.
Even trying to reason with yourself, that maybe it wasn't from him, didn't help at all.
You didn't know anyone else in Seoul.
Your stomach shifted uneasily and you noticed that the free hand you had wrapped nervously around your arm was pinching into your skin.
You grasped onto the box with both hands and took a deep breath, deciding that you needed to do it before work or else you'd never do it.
One more deep breath and you ran the edge of your nail across the packing tape, seamlessly opening the box without having to rip it apart.
You shakily moved the cardboard flaps out of the way before staring inside of it.
Nestled inside was a small square envelope; the notion of having a box for this kind of thing just seemed absolutely ridiculous to you.
You lifted it, examining the outside for any sign of the sender.
Nothing.
Groaning to yourself you opened the envelope, pulling out the pale blue stationery paper inside.
You had to brace yourself for what it could be.
A breakup letter?
A letter from a lawyer to keep your mouth shut about the famous idols and their personal lives?
Both sides very plausible.
Both equally terrifying for your current emotional stability.
Your eyes reluctantly scanned the paper, slowly taking in what was written there.
Though it was surprisingly just a few short words, it was the first time you felt a glimmer of warmth in weeks.
Please wait for me
I love you
- T
Hugging the letter closely to your chest, you let out the biggest sigh of relief.
Despite the fact you still didn't have an explanation.
Why he left, why couldn't he say goodbye.
In this moment none of that mattered.
All that mattered was that he didn't abandon you.
You felt something drop into your lap out of the envelope, making you peer down to see what it was.
Glittering even in the early morning sun was the most beautiful charm you had ever seen.
Laid delicately on your lap, a stunning purple crystal heart.
I'll wait for you, Taehyung.
However long it takes.
