Chapter 1: Unexpected news

Mark POV

Only a few hours after I fell asleep again, my alarm started to go off and pulled me back out of the land of dreams. Tired and with a slightly uneasy feeling I sat up and turned off the alarm clock. Jack groaned and slowly opened his eyes: "Is it really already time to get up?", asked he sleepily and turned towards me. With a sigh and a gentle smile I replied: "Unfortunately yes, love. School is calling for us already again." After we both kept laying in our bed for a few more moments, we finally got up and made ourselves ready for the day. While Jack was occupying the bathroom, I made breakfast for us all and packed my school stuff. As Jack walked up to me and sat down at the breakfast table, I went into the bathroom and hurried through my morning routine. A few minutes later I sat down next to Jack and we both enjoyed our last 15 minutes we had before we need to leave for school.

After a while I heard a door open and shortly after Caro was walking from her and Mason's room over to us still slightly asleep. The two of them moved in with us a few months after they came back from their honeymoon, because Caro's hiding place within the school wasn't the best home for them to live at. "Morning Caro. How are you feeling today? Are you still feeling sick?", came it from me worried. Caro wasn't feeling particularly good these last few weeks. Exhausted it came from the brown-haired: "At the moment I am feeling fine. I just hope that I can keep down my breakfast this one time." Jack stood up then and made Caro sit down. "You're not doing anything, sweetie. You're not looking so good right now, so let me make you your food. What do you want?", came it from my concerned soulmate. Caro smiled delicately and said: "A cup of tea and a toast, please. I don't want anything too strong to upset my stomach." My fiancé just nodded and quickly made everything ready.

Within this time Mason had woken up too and walked into the living room while he rubbed his eyes. "Morning Mason.", I said cheerfully to him and got a smile from the other hybrid. Afterwards he sat down next to Caro and gave her a kiss on the cheek. His wife gave him one back and then started eating her breakfast that Jack put down in front of her. When I looked at the clock, I swallowed down the rest of my coffee. I immediately stood up and said to Jack: "We have to go now love. Otherwise we're going to be late." Jack then finished his coffee, before he grabbed his things and ran after me and we both got out of the apartment. Together we reached the newly constructed school building in just a few minutes and stormed towards our first classes. Only a few seconds before the bell rang, I rushed through the doorway into the classroom. Immediately I walked over to Ethan and Tyler, who were apparently discussing something together, and sat down next to them.

"Hey guys. Sorry that I was so late to get to the party here. We haven't noticed the time fly by.", I apologized to my friends. The two just laughed and Tyler replied: "Oh, that's totally fine Mark. The main thing is that you're not too late for class." Right after he said this our teacher walked into the room and started today's lesson.

Lunch break

Jack and I just parted from Dark and Anti for the lunch break, because they both loved to have the break for them alone, while my fiancé and I went to the cafeteria. Our friends were already waiting for us and waved briefly, before they focused back on their conversation and food. Quickly we both got our food and joined the others on our table. We talked for a while, when I suddenly heard some other students talking about something that got my attention. Curiously I listened into their conversation. "My uncle told me something crazy on the phone today. Apparently there was quite some dispute on Demon Mountain. This is scaring me a bit too. What if they are going to attack us again?", said the first student. The girl next to him said only: "I hope they don't. Our school was just newly rebuilt. And I really don't want to worry about an attack when we already have our final exams in only a few months."
