Deception

Chapter 1: Breakdown

"Hey Son-" she started as Sonic walked past her. "Hey Knuckles. How ya been pal?" he asked. "Good but why did you ignore Amy?" Sonic ignored his question and said, "That's good bud. Catch ya later." Amy couldn't believe what just happened. Sonic seemed to be avoiding her. 'But why?' she pondered.

A Few Months Later

Sonic had been avoiding her for months now and no one knew why. Amy was slowly losing herself. No matter what she tried Sonic would avoid her.

Sometimes he didn't even try to hide it and it hurt her deeply. She would get to the bottom of it today no matter what. While headed to Tails' workshop, she spotted Sonic in a group of his fan girls. "OMG! WE LOVE YOU SONIC!" He gave his star smile and said, " Interesting. I no longer have feelings for my crush so one of you may have a chance." He winked as he dashed off. Amy couldn't believe what she just heard. 'Could he have meant me? Even if he wasn't........ Why?' she thought as she slowly fell deeper into depression.

Sonic stopped mid run and thought 'I wonder if she heard me. I hope so. Maybe then she'll feel how I felt all those months ago.' He then continued his run for Tails' workshop. "Hey bud!" Tails walked in and fist bumped him. Sonic's heart dropped into his stomach. There was Amy on Tails' couch and she looked fine as if she didn't hear him. "Tails, I'll be back. There's uh, something I need to do pal," he said weakly as he scurried out. "Uh okay." Tails responded. 'That was weird' he thought.' "Who was at the door Tails?" Amy asked.

'So she didn't care huh? I guess she really did love Shadow more than me.' Sonic thought.

Unknown to Sonic, his fur darkened to a dark navy instead of his normal ocean blue and his pupils dilated. He felt himself losing control but he couldn't stop it.

'Of course she did you worthless hog. Who could ever love a weakling like you? You just never noticed her feelings for him.'

"Who's there?" Sonic asked aloud.

'It's just me. The part of yourself that you lock away. Your hatred, sadness and most importantly, doubt and jealousy. Had you not locked me away, you would've noticed sooner and not had your heart broken. It's not to late. Let me out and I can ease the pain.'

"Why should I? You might try to hurt them. They may have hurt me but I would never wish harm on them," Sonic hissed at his dark side.

'Just let me help you Sonic. I won't hurt them. I'll just do what you've been doing and avoid Amy. You can't keep me away forever and you know it. I almost got free on her birthday so do you really think you can hold on for much longer?'

"S-Shut up. You will hurt them and I won't let you so just shut up and s-s-stay p-put."

'What's the matter Sonic. Losing control? Heh. Let me out within the next two days and I promise to leave your friends alive and well. Try and keep me in and...well... you already know.'

"N-NO! If you can hurt them that easily then what's stopping you from doing it? Your word? REAL f-funny pal."

'Your choice. But remember this hedgehog. I will get free.'

"Y-Y-Yeah w-whatever."

'Let's see how long your facade lasts. Heh heh. I'll be waiting for you to decide, but don't look to pathetic when you come crawling back to me,' his dark side cackled.

"We w-w-will see you b-b-bastard," Sonic snarled.

"What do you mean Sonic was here?" Amy growled at Tails. "That he was the one that was just here?" Tails said confused. The pink hedgehog was getting more and more infuriated with each passing second, "And you didn't tell me? You knew he's been avoiding me and yet you didn't tell me he was here?" Tails was slowly losing his patience, "I thought something happened between you guys so I just let him go. I mean, Sonic doesn't avoid anyone for no reason. He must have one so I didn't question him about it." Tails uttered. Then a devilish smile grew across Amy's face. "You're gonna help me out then," she sneered.

'Gulp.'
