Chapter 26: Final Fight

Third Person Pov
"Time to end this faker." Shadow barked. "I couldn't agree more." Dark Sonic charged at Shadow and kicked him through trees, leaving behind a trail in the dirt. He ignored everyone else and was focusing on Shadow. "I expected more from you. You talk a lot of shit for someone who can't back it up." he mocked as he continued beating Shadow.

As Amy was watching, she came to a realization. It was Sonic who was beating Shadow when she saw him being beaten by Eggman's base. Their fighting styles are completely different. 'So I called Sonic a monster.....' While she was thinking, the fight raged on.

The gang planned for Dark Sonic to focus on Shadow. They would perform a spell stunning him for five seconds which was all the time they needed. However, Shadow was losing much faster than expected. He was almost dead but they still needed another two minutes to finish the spell. Shadow could barely stand and was coughing up blood all over the forest. "Having.....fun?..." Shadow asked sarcastically.

"Of course. Every cell in my body is ecstatic when I hit you. I need more of it." he teased as he dashed forward. Just before reaching Shadow, he was stunned.

"What did you bastards do to me?" Dark Sonic asked angrily. "It's simple. We knew that you'd only target Shadow even if we said we'd fight so we prepared a plan. While you fought him, we cast a spell to stop you in place for five minutes. That's all the time we need." Silver appeared and spoke arrogantly. "I never pegged you guys as the sneaky types like Shadow and Amelia. I wanted to save this but oh well."

Suddenly, Dark Sonic began to glow. The chaos emeralds appeared, surrounding Dark Sonic. In his previously blank pupils, red swirls began to form. His normal teeth turned to fangs. Sonic's gloves ripped as his fingers became claws. His quills became unruly. All that was heard was rushing wind and a demonic cackle. The usual cocky grin turned into a demented smile.

Everyone's hearts dropped as Dark Sonic flashed between yellow and black. When he stopped at yellow, a devious smirk formed on his face. "So...still think you guys stand a chance? What should my name be? Super Dark Sonic is too much to say. Hmm. What about Fleetway? Has a nice ring to it, doesn't it? Fleetway it is." he belittled them as he elbowed Shadow in the jaw. By the time they realized what happened, Fleeway Sonic sent them all flying as well.

As everyone else crashed through trees, Fleetway continued his assault on Shadow. He punched Shadow in the jaw, causing a lot of blood to come out. He looked down at his glove, smirked, and licked it off. "Tastes better than I thought."

Silver came rushing towards them, but he was sent back by a kick to the chin. The kick sent a sonic boom out and temporarily unnerved everyone else from charging at him. Fleetway utilized this chance by attacking Shadow some more. Shadow tried throwing a punch, but Fleetway ducked underneath and sent a roundhouse kick into Shadow's cheek, which sent him into the ground, forming a crater.

"I wanted a challenge Shadow. Not a one-sided massacre. You and your friends are boring me. I gave you a week and this is the best you got. I don't see how Sonic tolerated you guys."

"Screw...you..." Shadow muttered. "Tough talk for someone eating dirt." he began to laugh demonically. As he was taunting Shadow, Silver snuck up behind him and punched him. Fleetway Sonic didn't flinch but Silver immediately jumped back holding his hand. "The hell? What are you made of?" he cried out.

"In pain rodent? My buisness is with Shadow and Amelia. This is your last warning. Back off." Fleetway warned as he turned back to Shadow. Knuckles ran up and punched Fleetway and he actually flinched. "How the hell did you actually hurt me?"

"Don't sweat the small stuff. I'm getting my friend back one way or another. Either give him back or I'll beat him back. I can't forgive you for manipulating his emotions and making him hate Amy. He loves her more than anything and you made him think he hates her!" Fleetway's smirk turned into a murderous frown. "You don't know jack shit echidna! I'm acting on his thoughts. You can't understand the pain Sonic's gone through over the years because of those two. Everyday, he would down himself thinking 'I'm not good enough. Maybe I didn't deserve her. Hope she's happy.' He would put on a brave/happy face so no one knew his suffering. He wanted the world to think he was happy so he wouldn't interfere with Amelia and Shadow's relationship. The one person I didn't hate was depressed and I couldn't do a thing about it so I made a plan. I'd pretend to be evil and kill those who hurt him. After I was done, I'd lose in a fight for our body and he'd return."

"If that's really what happened then you don't know anything about Sonic! You said it yourself! Even though they hurt him, he wanted Amy to be happy! He'd never want to hurt his friends no matter what! Your 'evil' act could've changed his mind more than you think. Did he give up his body as soon as you asked or did you slowly torture him and then he gave in?" Tails shouted. "S-SHUT UP!"

As Fleetway charged towards Tails, his body began to flicker between yellow and black once again. His gloves slowly turned back to normal and his pupils went blank again. "What's going on?" When he finished his question, the chaos emeralds shot out and surrounded him again. They began to shoot beams into Fleetway and spin violently.

"They're absorbing his negative energy and sending in positive energy. Since he absorbed all their negative energy and sent in all his remaining positive energy, the emeralds are trying to regain their loss of dark chaos and lose some of their light chaos. So, they're using the strongest source of dark chaos which is him. I'm not sure if they're helping us or screwing us over." Knuckles explained. Fleetway howled in pain as he was losing strength. "D-Damnit. I'm losing too much dark energy. Sonic might come back. Must.....fight...ba-" before he could finish, his quills turned a deep blue and his body lay motionless on the ground. "Did we do it? Is Sonic back? Is he....dead?" Tails asked with tears beginning to form. Sonic's body began to twitch as he started raising himself up, breathing heavily. They all hid to test if it was reall Sonic. "O-Ouch. What the hell happened? Did my dark form get his ass handed to him. My friends could've at least held back a little. Last thing I remember is.....Amy running from me calling me a monster. I gave up and let dark me do whatever he wanted. Did he lose or quit?" Sonic spoke as he was about to limp away. "SONIC!" was all he heard before he was pounced.

"Huh? Guys? Where'd ya come from?" Knuckles tried to punch Sonic but he dodged. "That's one helluva welcome back." Sonic joked. "Do you have any idea what we went through because of you? We almost died! But........welcome back pal." Tails said with tears streaming down his muzzle. "Something's not right. Someone's missing." Sonic spoke confused. "Everyone's here. Even Shadow." Knuckles said begrudginly. "Shadow?!" Sonic began to grind his teeth and his entire body was tense. "Calm down pal. He's the reason that YOU didn't kill us." Tails explained. "Thanks for guilt tripping me bud. But not him. And before ANYONE says Amy, it's not her." Sonic spoke matter-of-factly.

"Woah. What's got you so mad at her? Before you left us again, you two were on really good terms." Blaze asked. "You guys remember how I turned dark to protect her right?"

"Yeah."

"Well, when I was about to kill Shadow, she called me a monster and ran off. Instead of chasing after her like I would've a few years ago, I lost all hope. Which is why dark me was back again. Don't get me wrong. I don't hate Amy or even dislike her. I'm just not in the mood to see her. In fact, I'm scared of what I'd say if I saw her." Sonic answered staring at the ground as a tear left his eye. "Now please stop distracting me." After a period of silence, Sonic snapped and looked up happily. "That's it! It's Sally. She was getting tortured with me but I haven't talked to her since." Once he finished, he sped off into the distance occasionally tripping due to his injuries.

"Glad I could hear his thoughts. I was scared he hated me." Amy said as she walked out of the trees. "What are we waiting around for? Let's go help Sonic find Sally. she continued hoping no one could see her sadness. Silver noticed and signaled the others to stop. "Guys, we have to help Amy out. I don't know how Sonic feels but I do know how she feels."

Tails sighed. "Looks like Cream was right. We really do need to start Operation: "Deception."
