'Happiness is a butterfly which appears and delights us for one brief moment, but soon flits away.'

You went to your room and got ready for bed. When Ash finally came in, he crawled into bed and accepted it reluctantly when you told him you were going to get a drink from the kitchen. You hung around outside the door and waited until he fell asleep. You headed to the living room where you knew you'd find Luke, and unsurprisingly, he was wide awake.

"Hey, Luke." You whispered into the darkness and he turned on the lamp.

"(y/n), what's up?"

"I- I don't know. I just wanted to be alone with you for a bit, I guess."

"Look (y/n), I'm sorry but I'm too tired right now, why don't you go to bed?" You could tell it was forced. He was lying, trying half-heartedly to get rid of you.

"Because I needed to see you."

He sighed and budged over. "Fine, come and sit here then..."

You snuggled up beside him and felt him hug you from behind.

"Is something wrong babe?"

You smiled. "No. Everything's absolutely great... But, uhh, I'm not sure how to say this really, but, like, the other day... when, you know..."

"I know." He whispered into your hair so quietly that you nearly missed it. "It's fine (y/n). I get it, it shouldn't have happened. It would've been a huge mistake."

"Oh?" You struggled to hide the disappointment in your voice. "That's err, that's what you think, is it?"

"Yeah." You might just be making it up, but he sounded a bit pained to say that. "You're a wonderful girl (y/n), but I think you should just go to bed and forget about it all."

"Right..." You stood up and got into your own bed, beside your sleeping brother. You didn't sleep that night.

You decided to try to forget about that moment with Luke and to act more friendly than flirty around him. But that barely lasted for two days, it was about one in the afternoon when you were alone in the kitchen making pancakes to suprise the boys with.

"Something smells good." You flinched and nearly spilt the contents of the frying pan onto the floor.

"Luke! Don't make me jump like that." You moaned but you were smiling widely. You tried to flip the pancake in the pan but it just shifted feebly.

"Here, I'll show you how to do it..." He appeared right behind you and his arms were intertwined with yours. "You have to tilt it downwards, and then, kind of, just, thrust it up.." You felt his hips rolling against your back as he flipped and caught the pancake. You were trying to keep focused to cooking, rather than Luke (which was increasingly difficult, seeing as he had pressed himself against your back).

"You were pretty good at that..." Your thoughts were slowly drifting and you had to drag them back to reality. "Okay, thanks Luke, you can have that one. I'll bring the others in in a minute." He took the hint reluctantly, and left.

Moments like that continued to pop up and bother you throughout the day, keep you awake at night and resurface the following day. You noticed that whenever you spoke, it felt like you had his full undivided attention and he had started to sit closer to you than entirely necessary; you often returned the favour.

[A/N - Sorry guys, this one's a bit of a filler, nothing exciting ;) but I'm hoping the next part will have everything you want!]
