*Luke's POV*

"No, Michael. You're doing it wrong." I groan, annoyed yet again but he just ignores me.

I take a ball and try to get it to the end of the alley without it slipping into one of the holes. We have got to win this. Out of all the games we've played so far, we only won one of them, almost two only if Michael here hadn't tried to cheat on the previous one.

I place a hand over the spot Ivanna pinched me for staring at Alexa while she was playing a game where she had to spit milk into a small bottle. I start to rub the reddened place while patiently waiting for the ball to fall into one of the holes, but it doesn't. I was so positive we were going to lose this one also.

"Well done." Andrea pats me on the shoulder.

"And that's how you play fire ally." I turn to Michael who just responds with a roll of his eyes.

"Yeah, yeah. Show offs. We only have two minutes to meet up with the other team." Ivanna warns us from behind.

As we start to walk away from the tent, I notice Calum, Alexa, and Ashton already walking towards us. Ashton has his arms crossed over his chest and his eyes focused on me, giving me a deadly glare.

"You guys won only one game?" Calum says, pointing at the stuffed penguin in my hand and starts laughing uncontrollably.

"Shut up Calum." Michael says. "We won two, fyi. The last prize we won was a t-shirt." he proves him wrong and holds up a yellow tie dyed t-shirt.

"Well we won four so you know what this means." Ashton speaks up.

Shit.

"It's like any other ferris wheel, just much bigger. It can't be that bad." Michael states, noticing my eyes go wide and walks straight up to the man in charge of the ferris wheel.

"Yeah, I mean this isn't even a challenge." Ivanna adds, following Michael.

"You guys are only saying that beca-" I start but Andrea cuts in. "Oh c'mon Luke," she pulls me by my wrist. "It'll be fun."

Yeah, "fun".

"No! Wait." I protest. "I'll only go if Alexa comes along with me..?" I say in a form of a question. "Please?" I beg.

It may sound so cheesy and cliche, but having Alexa by my side would help me escape the reality and forget where I am at that moment. What took me by surprise is that she actually agreed to come along.

We got into the cart and sat down. "Don't they have any safety harnesses at all?" I exclaimed. I was already very nervous and we haven't even started moving.

As the crane took us higher, I noticed with increasing alarm the sounds from the ground far below now becoming muted, the crowd distant. I began to breathe rapidly and sweat like a dressed pig in a sauna while my thoughts raced away quicker than a missed train.

My hands flew up to my mouth as I gasped. We are now at the highest point, and the wheel seemed to be as high as a twelve story building. Everyone below us looked like tiny ants.

"Don't worry. We just go around in a big circle, see? It'll be fine." Alexa notices my uneasiness and tries comforting me by placing her tiny hands on top of mine, giving it a small squeeze.

This doesn't feel right. I should be the one comforting her, holding her hand and telling her it's alright. It should be the other way around. Why am I such a coward?

"Everyone has a fear, Luke. You just have to face it." she says, as if reading my mind.

"What's yours?" I curiously ask.

She removes her hand away from mine and fists both of her hands together, placing them on her lap and staring down at them.

"It's a long story. I rather not talk about it right now." She responds.

"Oh, I'm sorry..." I start but I feel something move then remember that we were still on the damn ferries wheel. "Ah, man."

"It'll be alright, Luke." The way she says my name calms me down a bit and I take a deep breath. I'm acting as if this is some type of serious surgery at a hospital, not to mention how much more terrifying that would be.

"But what if your fears and dreams exist in the same place? Would you still go there?" Curiosity gets the best of me.

"No doubt I've already been there, but I just...I wanna find a place where there's joy," she replies, "maybe the joy will burn out the pain, you know?"

I look ahead but I feel Alexa's eyes on me and when I turn to look at her, she rapidly spins her head around.

I had to resist the irresistible urge to bury my nose in her hair right then. To face her towards me and kiss her passionately. Its instinct.

Before I knew it, my lips were on hers. At first it was almost as if she didn't want to kiss me. Her mouth was hard on mine, unyielding. My thumb found its way to her cheekbones, caressing and following the curved line of the jawline. Her lips softened. I could feel the rapid beat of her heart.

It was then when I realized how much I've missed this for the last two years.

I wasn't sure if it was inside my head or in reality, but I could've sworn I heard fireworks the exact moment our lips connected. Or maybe its the mix of my emotions, creating a fire and chaos inside my head because I haven't felt this way in about two whole years. My heart lights up, as if she's my firework.
