SAN immediately jumped up from his seat the moment the school bell rang. Since it was almost time for the christmas break and they didn't really do anything important in class anymore, he had spent his day researching and then writing down movie ideas for the movie night they were having. Considering they would get a new foster brother today, the little get-together tomorrow would also be kind of a welcome party for him. Mrs. Choi was also preparing a big meal for tonight, so they could all eat together and get to know each other a little. She did that for every boy that came to live with her in her home. All she ever wanted was to make everyone feel comfortable and loved.
Quick steps brought him to the old red car which was parked on the same spot as always. Hongjoong was already waiting for him and San could tell from just his facial expression, that he was not in the best mood. »I told you to be quick«, he said right after San opened the door, to jump on the passenger seat. »And I was! Seonghwa can wait for you a few minutes, he is not made out of glass«, he mumbled. Hongjoong looked at him with an annoyed side eye, didn't say a word about that topic anymore though. He always wanted to be perfect for his boyfriend so it bothered him a little that Seonghwa was probably waiting anxiously in the cold for him to be picked up.
San just shruged of the little 'encounter' they just had and pulled out the movie notes he made in class today. He really didn't want to fight with his older foster brother, so he just started reading his notes to him like there wasn't even a problem. Hongjoong willingly listened. After every movie the older one liked he wrote KHJ. He would need to do that with every single one of his foster brothers until tomorrow evening, because it was a recipe for disaster to decide what movie to watch at the actual movie night with so many people.
Hongjoong then pulled over to the usual spot where Mingi and Yunho waited every day in front of the school gym to get picked up by them. »Yahhh, Kim Hongjoong!«, Mingi screamed as soon as he got in the car. San quickly covered his ears because he knew that a »Yahhh, Choi San!«, from Yunho would immediately follow after. »Why do you guys always need to be so damn loud?«, he asked, before pouting a little. »It's so our Maknae can feel free to play with his Hyungs«, Yunho answered with a big grin on his face. »Jongho is the Maknae, not me!«, he quickly said and turned around to shoot him a glance. »Well Jongho isn't here, Maknae«, Mingi immediately came to Yunho's defense. »Well but you are and you are younger the-«, he hissed at Mingi now, got stopped from both of them in the middle of the sentence though. »I'm taller than you«, Mingi said and in the same exact moment you could hear Yunho say: »He is taller than you.« These two really were inseparable. »Aishhh. Just tell me which movies you like from this list.«
Until now it looked like they were going to watch either one of the avengers or the horror movie. But since Halmoni, Jongho, Yeosang, the new boy and, as far as he was concerned, also Seonghwa could vote, everything was still open. San secretly hoped for the comedy movie, but no one ever wanted to watch those. The moment he finished writing down SMG and JYH behind the movies the two tall boys in the back liked, Hongjoong pulled over again. »Switch seats, San«, he got promptly ordered. Since he was used to this he just quickly grabbed his stuff without even complaining and got out of the car.
Seonghwa jumped in quickly and when San opened the back door to get in next to Mingi he could already hear them making out. »Yahhhh! My eyes, my eyes«, Yunho screamed and childly covered his face with both hands. »Quick, quick«, Mingi screamed hysterically and pulled San in the car with so much strength, that he fell over the younger boys legs. Yunho then pulled him further in while Mingi closed to door, so now San was literally laying on his foster brothers, while listening to the sound of Hongjoong and Seonhwa. He was glad that he at least couldn't see them, because he never kissed anyone before and still got very flustered by such things.
His foster brothers didn't let him sit up properly so San stayed in this position until they got home. On the way he had Mingi ask Seonghwa which movies he liked on the list, because he himself couldn't get a hold of his notebook. Of course the oldest one chose all the horror movies, so he could grab on to Hongjoong while watching. Even though Mingi liked to tease him sometimes, he really made San laugh about the fact, that he didn't write the initials of Hongjoong's boyfriend after the movies, but drew a little angry bird instead.
When they finally arrived at the house, everyone jumped out of the car quickly and followed the two oldest to the house. They had orders from his grandmother to come directly into the kitchen to greet the new boy. No one could miss that they were coming home though with the loud noice they were making, so it was no wonder that Jongho came jumping down the stairs to see them as soon as they stepped one foot in the hallway. He didn't have school as long as them, because he was one grate under them. As soon as they saw the youngest one of the bunch they started screaming his name to greet him cheerfully, but he quickly made them signs to shut up and follow him upstairs.
After they were all gathered up in Hongjoong's and his room, where Yeosang was already waiting for them, he started talking again. »The new boy, Wooyoung. He got here like two hours ago. He is an absolute asshole. He seams really angry, disrespectful and scary. Halmoni is filling out all the paper work with him and the woman who brought him here in the kitchen right now and at first he was not cooperating at all. He just looks at everyone with this judging stare.« All of them made a annoyed noice, except Seonghwa and Yeosang, because they didn't know why the others reacted like that. They had a boy living with them who fit perfectly to that description at the beginning of last year, who was totally out of line and started fights with everyone, which made everything really uncomfortable. »Great, now we get to spend christmas with a douchebag«, Yunho said depressed and threw himself on Jongho's bed.
Even though they didn't say anything around those words San felt that this situation was his fault. But yesterday it did feel so right helping the boy. While everyone made themselves comfortable in the two rooms upstairs, because no one wanted to go downstairs to face the drama, San didn't have a choice. He at least needed to check on his grandmother. She was a smart woman and knew how to handle problematic teenager, but he just needed to check on her. He was in deep thoughts while going downstairs, which is why he didn't see the boy standing in front of the mirror in the hallway at first. When he did, Wooyoung was already looking at him through this exact mirror. Then he turned around..
»Isn't there any other attraction besides me in this shitty house?«, he asked, before scanning San with a bitter look in his eyes. San almost made a shocked noice but could hold himself back in the last second. He must've seen his bewildered facial expression though. Wooyoung's left eye was swollen pretty badly, there were cuts on his cheek and lip, which had also turned a little blue from the bruising.
Did he seem angry? Yes.
Did he seem disrespectful? Well.. a little.
Did he seem scary? Not at all.
San almost thought, that he looked scared.
»Stop fucking looking at me, you ugly piece of shit«, the gray haired boy almost screamed out. Right in this moment Hongjoong and Seonghwa came down the stairs. »Yah! Talk to my little brother that way again and I-«, Hongjoong started, but got hold back from his boyfriend in the last second. »Hyung«, San said, quickly turning around to him. »It's okay. I got it. Just go.« He didn't let him leave without squeezing his hand as a thank you though. It was nice to know that even though Hongjoong almost only hung out with Seonghwa these days, that he still had his back.
When the two older boys had left the house the injured boy was still standing on the same spot, glaring at San with these deep, broken brown eyes. »My grandmother doesn't like swearing in the house, please understand«, San suddenly said after staring back for another second. And with that he turned away, went straight into the kitchen and closed the door quietly. Sometimes people just needed to experience kind behavior, to act accordingly as well. San also hated prejudices. Who knew why Wooyoung was acting like that? He probably had a really bad time right now.
