IN a span of a week Choi San had completely changed his mind about what his favorite day of the week was. Since now all he wanted to do was to go to school and spent his school breaks writing in his notebook, while the gray haired boy was sitting by his side smoking or just daydreaming, Sunday had felt way too long. Last week he got so used to feeling his presence that it was a little strange not seeing his face yesterday. Since Wooyoung didn't leave his room again he tried really hard thinking about something else, which in the end didn't work out whatsoever. All day San tried finding something good to say in the next break, because he finally wanted to break the silence. It was nice that Wooyoung wasn't telling him to leave him alone anymore, but San really wanted him to say something.
He didn't say anything in the first break, since every time he looked at the sightly tanned boy he seemed really tense. As much as San wanted to say something, he much more wanted him to stay and he was scared that if he said something wrong Wooyoung might leave immediately. San kept trying to tell himself that he was just doing this so there wouldn't be another drama like with the guy last year, but the truth was, that it was much more than just trying to get Wooyoung to be a part of the group his brothers and he had. If there wouldn't be another reason his heart wouldn't beat like crazy every time Wooyoung was near him.
In the second break San intentionally forgot his notebook on his desk. When he sat down in front of him this time, he just watched him quietly while Wooyoung lit his cigarette like always. »Since when do you do this?«, San asked, pointing at the cigarette in his hand. At first he thought he would get ignored again, but then Wooyoung shrugged slightly. After some more time went by he said: »Can't remember«, before taking another drag. San didn't think about his next words, before they left his mouth. »Can I try?«
Like he already let the boy know the first time they sat down here, he was not a big fan of smoking whatsoever. But since he couldn't think of anything else to say and he desperately wanted to somehow make himself more interesting, that was the only way he could think of how. It obviously was a really bad idea to try to impress someone with something you didn't like doing. But San was willing to push that aside if it meant that he could make the boy think, that he was maybe kind of cool.
Wooyoung looked at him confused for a second, before raising one eyebrow in question. For a second it looked like he was trying to hand him the cigarette, which is why San was reaching for it, but then he suddenly changed his mind and pulled away. Or maybe he was just messing around with him. »Don't make a fool out of yourself, Choi San. You are not that kind of boy.« With that he got up from the ground and walked away, leaving him behind like he had feared. You should've just kept quiet, San thought. But he was not surprised with Wooyoung finding him lame or whatever. How was he ever gonna impress Wooyoung anyways?
San didn't expect to see him at the gate today after school, so it was kind of a surprise when he saw the boy leaning against the wall, while he was looking for someone in the crowd of students. When he finally noticed San, who was looking straight at him, he stared walking towards home. Did he wait for him? San had no problems at all with catching up with him this time, since the gray haired boy was walking rather slowly. He didn't say anything to him though and Wooyoung kept quiet like always as well.
They've been walking quietly for some time when they abruptly got stopped by a group of four boys, who where maybe one or two years older than San and Wooyoung. They just stood in front of them for a few seconds, blocking the way and inspecting their bodies, before looking straight at Wooyoung. »Give me your shoes«, the tallest one of them said vicious. That unsurprisingly didn't impress Wooyoung at all though. San was stepping back a little, when he heard him say: »I won't do shit. Piss the fuck off.«
The boys obviously didn't like that response, so one of them grabbed Wooyoung by the collar, while the others were aggressively repeating that he should take off his shoes right this second. San turned around, looking for any other person in the street, but since they weren't on a main road anymore there was nobody here who he could call for help. Obviously he had his phone in the back of his jeans, but he didn't want to give them the idea to take more than just a pair of shoes. His grandma probably couldn't afford buying him a new phone this year with Wooyoung joining them and everything and without being able to listen to music he would not survive the last days of school before the Christmas break.
When San turned around to face the situation they got themselves in, suddenly everything happened at once. First Wooyoung spit right in the face of the dude who was holding him against his will and then the guy punched him so harshly, that San got scared and jumped a little. He also led out a scream, which is why one of the guys turned his attention to him now. While the guy was grabbing him by his arm he could hear Wooyoung getting punched again. »Shut it or else I'll beat you too, dumbass«, the guy told him rudely. San couldn't focus on his words at all though, since the noice of Wooyoung fighting back came from right behind him. He tried turning around to somehow help him, but then got harshly pushed down to the ground himself. »Don't even think about it«, the asshole said. »The fucker needs to feel what happens, when you don't do, what we say.«
San didn't really pay attention to him again, because now he could look at Wooyoung. And what was happening in front of his eyes was so shocking, that he wanted to throw up. One boy was holding Wooyoung by his arms, which were crossed behind his back, while the other one kept on punching him. Even though he was already bleeding and had a expression full of pain, Wooyoung still tried to fight them off and talked back. »Get yourself shoes somewhere else, you sick piece of shit«, he said between bad sounding coughs. San had enough when Wooyoung suddenly spit up some blood and the dudes started laughing about it. I need to get them to stop, he thought. Wooyoung could get badly hurt by this.
»Let him go«, he first whispered, sounding very scared and unsure about what he was about to do. Then one of them dared kicking Wooyoung in the stomach and he jumped up from the ground without thinking about his next move. »Let him go. NOW!«, he screamed full of panic.
Please let him go.
After the guys just laughed about his words and looked at him like he was some sort of clown, San swung his fist.
