The Tower

When Happy arrived, Tony helped me into the car. It was a quiet journey, and a soft tune was playing on the radio, calming my nerves.

I can't believe this is happening.

Tony glanced at me several times throughout the trip, a look I couldn't quite decipher on his face. The car was an expensive Audi with soft leather seats and a smell only a new car could have. I would never believe I could be in the vehicle of this creation, let alone next to an Avenger.

We slowly pulled up to the tower now known as the Avengers Tower. Tony exited the vehicle to open the door for me. I cautiously stepped out and walked up to the building with Tony. When we entered, a petite red-haired woman rushed over to us, her heels clacking on the marble floors.

"Tony, what is the meaning of this? Another woman? When will you learn?" She harshly grabbed my shoulder and started dragging me out.

"Hey-No, Pepper, wait!" Tony placed a hand on my shoulder and stopped the woman now known as Pepper from kicking me out.

"What, Tony?" She huffed but stopped in her stride.

"She isn't some random woman; she's here to stay as my guest", Tony spoke sternly.

"Yeah, right, like every other one? She has to go." She tried to pull me again.

"Pepper, you are my assistant, not my Girlfriend; this has nothing to do with you; now leave,"

Pepper looked visibly hurt by this but let go of me. She looked me up and down but left as she was asked.

"I'm so sorry, Princess; let's get you up to Bruce." He grabbed your hand softly and walked you to the elevator.

The building was huge, and we passed many rooms filled with gadgets and expensive things.

We entered one part of the tower with a medical bed and other equipment.

"Hey, Brucie! I need your science help."

"I'll be there in a second, Tony!" A muffled yell was heard from another room.

A little while passed when a mop of chocolate brown hair peeked out from around the corner, a look of confusion on his face as he saw me.

"Who's this? No offence," I shake my head as to say none has been taken.

"A guest. Would you be able to give her a look over for me?" Bruce nodded his head and gestured for me to sit on the bed.

While I didn't particularly like the doctors, Bruce seemed gentle and good at this. I had some blood taken and just a general look-over. His presence was calming; it was much different than I was used to.

"I'll be back soon after I look over your blood. Other than that, you seem slightly skinny for your height; some good meals might help. Do you have any other injuries I could help with?" I rub my thighs unconsciously but shake my head no.

"Alright, I'll be back in a second," When Bruce left, I realised Tony was still in the room; I got slightly self-conscious and wrapped my arms around myself.

"You know I never got your name, sweetheart." He states with a smirk on his undoubtedly handsome face.

"oh... it's (Y/N)." His eyes light up at that.

"Such a beautiful name Princess"

I go to say something else but stop myself; sadly, Tony picked up on it.

"What was that, darling?"

"It's nothing", I mutter. He gives you a look but doesn't push it.

Bruce comes back after a while and looks slightly alarmed.

"It seems you are anemic; your Iron and B12 levels are deficient. Do you have difficulty staying awake and feel drained all the time?" He asks me. If I think about it, I do. I nod.

"I'll have to give you an Iron transfusion and monthly B12 injections if you're okay with that. If we leave this, it could become deadly." He spoke in a very caring way. I nod again, not realising it was this bad.

"Well, looks like you have to stay here," Tony says gleefully.

"No, I can't. I don't have any money to pay to stay here; I don't have a job or anything. It's not a good idea," If it was even possible, Tony looked even happier.

"That's perfect! I just had an assistant position open up, and you're just the person I need." I look at him like he grew a third head; he can't be serious.

"It's okay; I won't be good at it; I should probably go." I stand up, ready to leave.

"Nope, you are the one I need as my assistant, and you don't need to worry about anything right now; I will pay for everything till you get your first paycheck," He smiles at me.

That offer is too good to pass up. I need a job and don't have a place to stay. The worst thing is that I stuff up, and he finds someone new.

"I guess I could do that", I hesitantly agree, not knowing what I got myself into.

"That's the spirit princess!" He stood up and clapped his hands together. "Let me show you to your bedroom, M'lady." He bows at me dramatically; I can't help but giggle at that.

As we head down the hallway, we pass by Pepper again. She gives me a death glare that has me recoiling in fear. But Tony saw it and put a smile on his face.

"Hey, Pepper?"

"Yes, Tony." She turned towards him with a sickeningly sweet smile.

"Your Fired"

Her face dropped in absolute shock and disbelief.

"What-What do you mean?"

"You're just not fit for your position; I'll need your things gone by tonight," Tony continued like nothing had happened. I catch up to him and turn around to see tears pouring down her face; I feel a twinge of guilt in my gut. But sadly, it's not up to me.

Have I said how big this building is? We head to another level of the structure with a huge kitchen, lounge room, and two doors.

"The door to your left will be yours, and the one on the right is mine; only enter if there is an emergency," He winks at me. "Make yourself comfortable; I'll set you up tomorrow with your schedule," He turns and heads to his room, closing the door behind him.

Not wanting to upset anyone, I go to what is now my room and open the door and holy crap. It's beautiful, with a queen bed and a giant window overlooking the city. There was a door that led into my bathroom. Today was so tiring that the bed was calling to me; I practically flopped on it, and as soon as my head touched the pillow, I fell asleep.
