It was Saturday and I was sitting in the studio with Dinah as we worked on her album. "I think we should record the last one you wrote since you have the beat figured out already." I told her. Dinah agreed and quickly ran into the booth to begin recording her first song.
"That one's good D. Now let's focus on this one." I said as I flipped to the first page.
Dinah looked at me. "Wait why this one?" She asked. I smiled "because this song, this one is a hit DJ. I really think you have something special here." I told her. "But what if they don't like it?" She asked. I shook my head. "Babe I promise this song is it. Once we find the beat you'll see just how perfect it is." I told her. Dinah smiles "ok then I trust you." She said. I kissed her cheek. "I'm glad."
Watching Dinah sing the song I just knew this song would be big. There is just something about this particular song that just sounds right. It's amazingly written and well produced, and her voice sounds absolutely amazing. She definitely did something when she wrote this song.
Stepping out of the booth Dinah gently wrapped her arms around my neck and hugged me softly. "Thank you for doing this for me Lo. I really appreciate it." She says. Turning around in her arms I smiled as I looked up at her. "You're welcome D." I said. Dinah kissed my cheek but before she could say anything a small whine stops her.
"Mama I hungry." Charlie whined.
Moving away from the blonde I turned to pick up my daughter. "Well we're heading home soon so what would you like me to make?" I asked. Charlie taps my chin and hummed to herself. "Can you make that chicken pasta that grandma makes?" She asked. I nodded "yeah of course baby." I agreed. Charlie's eyes lit up as she hugged me, making me smile as I hugged back. Man I love this little girl. I really do.
"You know you didn't have to buy everything. I could have chipped in." I said.
Dinah stands in front of me and held my hands. "Well if you really want to, the next time we hang out make dinner for me. We can call it even then." She tells me. I smiled and pecked her lips. "Ok."
As I was cooking I noticed that Dinah was looking at me. I could tell that she noticed the scars and marks on my arms and chest, but the way she was looking at me had such a gentle tone to it. She was basically telling me without telling me that she still liked me and thinks I'm beautiful. So that made me feel really good.
"Mama can I cook pasta?" Charlie asks.
I looked down and nodded. "Of course baby." I said as I picked her up. Charlie picked up the pasta in her tiny hands and dropped it in the pot. "Look mommy I did it!" She cheers. "Did you see?" I kissed her cheek. "I did see and you did amazing baby girl." I told her. Charlie hugs me tightly. "Thank you mama."
As we sat down at the table I laughed softly as I watched Charlie feed Dinah. It was really cute and endearing actually. "Baby you can't give her all your food. You have to eat some as well." I told her. Charlie nodded and hands Dinah her fork. Dinah kissed the top of her head and began feeding her. Locking eyes with each other Dinah smiled at me and looking at her just made my heart thump right out of my chest. I'm slowly falling for her and I just hope she catches me. I really do.

Waking up the next morning I just had the biggest smile on my face. I don't know, I just felt really good right now and that just makes me extremely happy. And honestly it's definitely warranted since I haven't really felt happiness like this since three years ago. So this really did feel great.
Getting out of bed I left my room and was immediately greeted by little arms wrapped tightly around my leg. "Mommy!" She said happily as I picked her up. "Hey nugget. Good morning baby," I gently moved her curly hair out of her face as I smiled down at her. "So what would you like for breakfast?" I asked. Charlie tilts her head to the side as she taps my chin. "Can we have pancakes at DeDe's?" She asked. I nodded as I grabbed her bag and my purse and headed out the door.
"Well isn't this a pleasant surprise." Dinah said as she walks down stairs.
I stopped for a second and turned to look back at her. "Well this was Charlie's idea. She wanted to have pancakes with her buddy." I told her. She looks down at Charlie and picked her up. "So this was all your idea huh." She says. Charlie giggled as she cupped Dinah's cheeks. "Can we do this all the time?" She asked. Dinah's smile softened a little as she looked at Charlie. "Baby look," she sighed as she takes a seat at the island. "With my job and me having to travel I won't always be home, but when I am we can do this everyday." She says. "Is that ok?" Charlie stared at her and cups her cheek. "When you're gone will you call me like mommy does when she leaves?" She asked. Dinah nodded "of course! We can talk every night and maybe you can even come and visit." She says. Charlie claps her hands together and looks at me. "Can we mama?" She asked. I nodded and looked at her. "Of course baby." When the time comes that should definitely be fun.
