Chapter 12 and Epilogue

Dust PoV

It was a mistake telling her that. The moment I told her so, she bombarded me with questions.

"Samuel?", she said.

"yeah, (y/n)?", I replied.

"Would you like to be called Sans, Dust, or Samuel?", she asked.

"whichever one you like.", I answered.

There was silence for a long moment.

"Samuel?", she asked.

"yeah?", I said.

"What was all that at the alley? About stopping 'Chara'?", she questioned.

"well...", I said.

I told her the tale of man and beast, how they ruled the earth, and war broke out of fear.

"What about Chara?", she said.

"i'm getting to that.', I answered.

I said that the monsters lost, and were sealed underground. After some time, Chara fell down the hole of Mt. Ebbot that lead to the underground.

"Did she kill everyone?", she asked.

"no, back then, chara wasn't affected by LV.", I said.

"What's LV?", she questioned once again.

"LV stands for LOVE, which is an acronym for Level Of ViolencE.", I explained, "you raise your LV by gaining EXP, which is also an acronym. it stands for Execution Points."

"So then, why Chara?", she said.

"That part comes later.", I said.

"the story of how asriel, the son of the king and queen, found chara and brought her to the kingdom. toriel, the queen, healed her, and the royal family accepted chara as their own. chara always had a burning hatred for humans, and was the reason she fell down in the first place. she read a book from the royal library, saying seven human souls could break the barrier that kept the monsters from seeing the sun, and a human soul combined with a monster soul, could cross the barrier. she, soon after, poisoned herself with buttercups, and was declared ill. however, not without a witness. asriel saw her, and she told asriel to take her soul when she died, and cross the barrier. there, he would place her body on the golden flowers in her town, kill six more humans, and break the barrier once and for all. when he got there, he didn't want to kill anyone, monsters were born kind. near death, asriel fell down the hole, and before he died, he saw his mom and dad, toriel and asgore, before he faded into dust. from then on, asgore swore to his oath, that if any human fall down, they would die by his hands, and he would break the barrier, and declare war on the humans. toriel, disgusted by his act, fled the kingdom, and went into hiding, in the ruins. after who knows how hong, six human fell to their demise of asgore. then, the seventh soul, named frisk, fell down and ventured the underground. Their "determination", woke chara from death, and she served as a ghost. the child could go three ways. they could befriend each monster, leading up to the surface, kill some, and spare some, or kill every monster in the underground. that is what the child "frisk" did. they slaughtered everyone, and reset to have more "fun". they did this for 327 times.", I said.

"How do you remember every single time? Shouldn't they remember as well?", she asked.

"no, i was the only one who remembered. every time Frisk reset, everyone's memories were brought back to zero, before frisk fell down. here, she killed again, and again, in a never ending genocide. with each run of genocide, chara grew corrupted, and eventually, took control of frisk's body to do the work herself.", I said, "and with the motive of willing to do anything to stop the resets, i..."

I wasn't ready to tell her. All the things I did, how I murdered everyone as well, to stop her.

"What is it?", she said.

"do you promise you won't hate me after i tell you?", I said.

"Well, whatever you did had to be for a good cause, right? There's nothing that you could do to make me hate you.", she said.

"well, just warning ya...", I said, "i started doing my own genocide, before chara could fall. i hoped, that if i had enough power, enough determination, i could stop the resets. I'm sorry."

She had looked down, as if trying to judge me for whether or not she would forgive me.

"How much LV do you have?", she asked.

I was surprised. She was taking it better than I expected. I sighed. Guess I would really have to tell her everything. I initiated a fight.

"check.", I mumbled.

A screen appeared just before her chest, and she started reading. When she looked like she was finished reading, we exited the fight.

"does that answer your question?", I asked.

She nodded as a sad response.

"Are you okay?", she asked.

"yeah, just a bit tired. are you ok?", I said.

She nodded.

"Do you want me to unlock your room?", she said.

"i got it. ", I said.

I teleported inside, and opened the lock for her. I sat down on the bed, and when she opened the door, she was filled with nostalgia.

"come here.", I said, patting the side of the bed.

She listened, and sat a little closer than I expected. There was more silence, and I decided t break it.

"why aren't you scared of me?", I asked, reluctantly.

"You saved my life. Plus, you're Samuel. You promised that you'd come back, and here you are.", she said, laying her head on my shoulder, "I love you."

For once, it seems as if I may get a happy ending. A smile appeared on my face.

"i love you too, (y/n)."
