Elle's PoV:
My eyes focus on the street lights in the darkness, blurred views by the speed of driving pass them. On our way back home, I couldn't wrap my head around of what just had happened.
"you better join your husband since you seem to know a lot more about business than others. Maybe you can show and teach me other things too?"
My heart races at that thought. I couldn't figure out if it was the way he is so intimidating or- I actually didn't know how to feel about him at all. I don't even understand why I'm thinking about him.
I bite the inside of my cheek, ignore the rapid speed of my heart pouting against my chest. His grey eyes looked so so empty but full at the same time. He definitely is an asshole- no doubt on that.
I didn't flirt with him. I just stared to figure out if I met him before or not. I tried to remember the familiar touch as we shook our hands. It's weird and for sure confusing. It was like a dejavu- as if I've met him before but don't memorise it at all.
I jerk in my seat as Ethan's hand grabs my thigh gently, making me face his side profile, "I'm so sorry," I whisper at the thought of how the dinner ended up.
"Why, baby?"
"We were late because of me and now they don't think much of you. He was being so mean and then I-"
"It's nothing for you to worry about. Assholes like him think too much of themselves. He can't expect me to be punctual if he decides to meet up an hour before though we wanted to meet the following days." Ethan explains and intertwined our hands together, lifting it to his lips to place a soft kiss, "and you ended him."
I smiled because now I don't feel bad anymore. I really ended him and his stupid smirk and comment at the end annoyed me on another level. He clearly knows I'm married and flirts with me.
"He was really..." I pause at the thought of him.
"An asshole. Did you see the way he talked to his own brother? How arrogant." He shakes his head and I nod in agreement.
It's true, his brother wanted to meet with Ethan again and was much nicer while the asshole told his own brother to ask for permission.
Kinda creepy.
Kinda sexy.
I couldn't decide which one. But he knows what he's doing for sure; plus he's very confident about himself. A little too much. A little way too much.
"They're our neighbours," I state and shake my head.
"At least the nicer brother, imagine if the asshole would live next to us... We should meet with Joe in private, maybe you will get along with his wife?" Ethan hopes.
I twitch my shoulders. I don't mind making new friends and it actually annoyed me how badly they want me to be friends with her, "I have Kace as my best friend anyway, I don't care about new friends."
"Have you talked to him lately? And Evelyn?"
I nod, "He will propose to her," I smile and couldn't wait any longer for my best friend's happiness.
He's marring the one he truly loves.
Dreamy. Almost a fairytale.
"Really?" Ethan's eyes widen in shock and happiness at the same time, "That's crazy. I'm happy for them."
I hmm in response.
Silence took over our car ride. Ethan awkwardly brushed over my knee until he held the wheel with both of his hands and opened our windows for fresh air. My eyes gaze over him in confusion.
