Justin's PoV
"Ahhhw man, it was epic. Really, I couldn't believe my eyes." Dave, an intern, cheers up about my present for him. Hockey tickets for Toronto maple leafs, of course. I really don't know how he and I got so close together, I never even talk to the interns but somehow Dave impressed me and made me like him.
"I'm happy for you," I tell him honestly and looked around his office, "don't tell anyone though. I don't need my employees to hate me for giving an intern extra permission."
"Yo, my lips are sealed," he smiles and lifts his finger to press it on his lips.
I cringe at his reaction and look outside to check if my dad is done with the conference or not. The empty halls prove me wrong.
"Never mind. I have to get going slowly. Take care bro," I lift my hand to clap his but he was too nervous and fisted me instead. We both stood there for a split second, questioning if this really had happened or not.
"Shit, I'm-"
"Don't apologise. You make it worse." I shake my head and left his office before it got more awkward.
I nod to almost everyone on my way to my secretary to find him working his ass off like always, "calm down, Jennifer, the office isn't on fire."
He snaps his head up, parting his lips to tell me his name wasn't Jennifer but Jonathan. But of course, he can't tell me to call him otherwise, so he just shared a symphonic smile with me, "when is my dad done?"
"He's in your brother's office, sir," he stunts and I see his nervous hands slightly shaking, because of how stressful his work is and how I'm distracting him.
"Jasmine, calm down. I'm not rushing you or anything. Take your time and drink some relaxing tea, damn it." I fix my tie and made my way to Joe's office.
Planning shit without me. I see. I see.
Without knocking, I press the door open and my father jerked in his spot. Joe looked like he had seen a ghost and that's when I knew, they're hiding something from me, "what is it?"
"Nothing," Joe answers with a fake smile way too quickly.
I wasn't a noisy person if they didn't tell me then they weren't ready. But if I find out that it is a big deal, and if I find it out by someone else, that's when they see the real side of my face.
"Nothing?" I repeat and both of them nod.
How stupid do they think I am?
"I hope for both of you that you haven't made any decisions without my permission," I let them know in a low tone.
"No, of course not," my dad ensures. Normally, I believed everything he said but I felt like there is something wrong, "were you looking for me?"
I nod towards the door to provoke my brother by showing him that I didn't want to talk next to him. My dad nods and I made my way to my own office. I push through the only black doors in this building and waited in the middle for my dad until he closed the door behind him. Before he turned to me, I couldn't hold my anger and paranoia back. I hate when things get out of my control, "whatever you talked with him, does it involve the business?"
