I woke up in a small bed. It was white with blue covers. The cabin I stayed in was a bit old fashioned, but it was nice. My alarm clock was set to 5:00 so I could meet Ally in front of the barn. She was going to show me how to do things here. She had to be my age, but she was a bit taller than me.

I took a shower, then got dressed. I changed into jeans and a army green t-shirt. After getting ready, I go outside and make my way to the barn. I spot Ally standing next to the door.

"Good. You're here." she said.

"Good morning." I yawned.

She told me what I needed to do and gave me a tour of all the horses. I fed them, put some in the pasture, and mucked out stalls. when I was finished Ally gave me a granola bar for breakfast. At about 8:00 another girl came to the barn. She looked at me up and down from a distance. The girl had red hair, and green eyes.

She went into a stall and brought out a palomino gelding, I think his name was Comanche, or something like that. I went over to see Dream and she was already done with her food. I could tell she was happy here. I brought her out on the cross ties and brushed her. I saw no one was looking, so I hopped on her back.

"Okay girl, you ready?" I asked. We walked out to the jumping arena and warmed up in there, then I took her over the jumps. it had been a while since she jumped but overall she did good. Ally invited me to a trail ride. So I met her at the barn.

"Hey, who was that girl with Comanche?" I asked.

"That was Alexis." She replied, "She's kind of mean."

We went out on a beautiful trail in the mountains. It had lot's of trees, flowers, and a river. All of it was beautiful. After that, I walked to Walmart to buy some stuff for the cabin. I bought some food (such as: cereal, water, bagels, chips, ramen, etc.), pillows, blankets, and picture frames.

I walked back to the cabin and put my new stuff away. I was disappointed to see that the refrigerator didn't works, but most of my food didn't need to go in there anyway. All I really needed was the microwave.

I walked to the barn to do the night feeding. When I arrived I saw Linda. She was sitting on a tack box, crying. I asked her what was wrong. She looked up at me, surprised.

"I was going to wait to tell you, but I know your parents." She said, "I haven't seen them in a long time, but they told me that if something happened to them, I would take care of you. Meg, your parents are dead."

What? How could this happen? I couldn't breathe. I began to cry. I never should have left.
