17 years passed since the day Gear asked for Allie's help in becoming a good guy. Now he was fully reformed and was a close family friend, visiting Allie, Bristol, and Xavier whenever he could. Xavier was 17 now and was gaining a huge love for detectives and crime-fighting, just like Bristol had said. Most of the time he couldn't stop talking about wanting to be a detective.

Allie and Bristol both supported Xavier's dream to be a detective like them and did whatever they could to help him achieve his dream. However, they didn't know they wouldn't be able to be there for their son as much as they wanted.

One night, Xavier was home by himself while Allie and Bristol were out in town. He waited for hours, but they never came home. Xavier was starting to get worried, and eventually tried calling them, however nobody answered the phone.

Wanting to know if his parents were okay, Xavier went outside and drove into town, looking for Allie and Bristol, until he saw their car crashed on the side of the road with police cars and ambulances parked nearby.

Shocked, Xavier got out of his car and went to look. A police officer approached him and explained what happened.

"It seems like an oil spill on the road caused the car's tires to slip and they crashed. We're not sure of their condition right now, but they should be fine." the officer explained.

"I really hope they'll be okay...I don't want to lose my parents..." Xavier replied.

Over the course of the next few weeks, Allie and Bristol were both unconscious in the hospital, and while Bristol seemed to be recovering, Allie seemed to be getting worse. When Xavier came to visit them one day after school, Allie was being rushed out of the room for an emergency surgery. Bristol was awake now, though, so at least one of Xavier's parents would be okay.

"I'm really worried for Mom..." Xavier told Bristol as they talked together in the hospital room.

"I know you are, son. Unfortunately, there's not much we can do right now." Bristol replied.

"I just don't want to lose her..."

Bristol and Xavier waited for hours until the doctor came back with news about Allie.

"Is she okay...?" Xavier immediately asked the doctor.

The doctor sighed. "I'm...so sorry...we weren't able to save her..."

Both Xavier and Bristol's eyes widened. Having to adjust to Allie being gone would be difficult for them, since Allie was one of the biggest parts of their lives.

"No...please don't say it's true..." Xavier begged.

"I'm very sorry for your loss...I know she was very important to both of you..."

Xavier looked at the floor. He couldn't believe his mom was gone. He didn't know how he was going to live without her.
