Reason #13: Fulfill

Of all the things we do on earth, making promises is there to stand out. Why do we make promise? To settle things, to honour, to make change, to give and and to claim. I think there are more reasons or purposes why people promise.

There are two sides of what a promise can do to an individual. First, it brings hope if fulfilled. Second, it leads to a disappointment if broken. Whatever it does, a promise is innocent. This is funny but if a promise could talk, it would probably say to both the maker and receiver, "Why are you arguing over me?"or "Thank you for making me alive. I now exist." You choose what to do with that promise you make or wait to receive.

This is simple, but needs a lot of intention and real commitment: To the maker, do what you promise and do not promise what you cannot do or keep. However, if you have fallen short or situations are just too unpredictable, you need to adjust and be humble enough to apologize and rethink wisely. To the receiver, hold less expectation, seek less approval and learn to accept or appreciate more.

We don't live to make promises, but fulfilling it or seeing it fulfilled can make a difference.
