Reason #24: Use the instrument

There are days I tell God that I do not want to use my brain anymore. I also used to joke to my friends about quitting school to pursue baking. Who knows? If you love comprehending the way people are, you would probably be familiar with the terms "thinker" and "feeler". The world consists of these two types of people. Without thinkers, the world lacks order and rationality. At the same time, a world without feelers would be a war zone where compassion and genuine relationships find no place to be in. The thing is we somehow forget that both thinkers and feelers process themselves. We process the way we think and feel. Only then do we see the actions that flow from the way one thinks or feels. We process when we speak our thoughts. We process when we hug the person we love. We process when we cry because of internal tensions. We process when we use our hands to do the work we have in mind.

Have you ever taken your hands for granted? Have you ever devalued the work of other people's hands? Perhaps looking down on people whose jobs profited by their hand effort? The world offers us many choices and if we're blindly convinced without clear conscience, we'll end up judging that the work of hands are only for those who can't think or feel the way we do. There is joy in using our hands for the glory of God. I hope we all can use our hands gracefully not only to process things but to bless others.

Let us wake up and glorify God with our hands. The brain, the heart, and the hands- all are the instruments to fulfill God's plans.

Colossians 3:23-24 (NIV)

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.
