It's been two weeks since that Saturday and my phone hasn't received a new text message since. Vonnie did find a way to give Jeron my number (through Angel) but he hasn't used it. Maybe my chances was up and he doesn't feel to chase anymore. Something I'll have to get over.I finished all my finals. Passed with a grade point average of 3.6. I feel accomplished to have completed and soon will receive my associate's degree. Graduation is next week and I couldn't be more excited.
Right now I was on a mission for my auntie. She had me going around town dropping invitations off for the twins sweet 16 coming up. By coming up I mean a month from today. It's best to get all these things out the way for people to prepare a gift, their outfit, and to request off from work. So auntie decided why not today. I brought Vonnie along with me while I rode the town and she slips them in mailboxes.
"How many do we have left to do?" We remained parked from the last house we just left and counted the rest of the invitations.
"Four." Pulling back onto the street she typed in the next address for us to go.
"The twins got a lot of friends and family and they better all just show up," Vonnie stated while trying to find music on my phone to play.
"Seriously...you still talk to Angel because I know how you can get with guys." She smiled turning towards me in her seat.
"He's taking me out tomorrow night and won't tell me where." Rolling her eyes but still kept that smile.
"Awe he got you all smiling. My bitch getting comfortable around him I see. You see yourself taking it to the next level?" I eyed her as she sat facing back front. The look she gave wasn't pleasant.
"Uh uhn what is it."
"Ricky texted my phone about two days ago."
"Oh hell no! And said what exactly?" I sped up just by hearing this guy name.
"He wants to try us again... but I don't know Jay because Angel has been laid back about us and I like it a lot but you know Ricky is my first love and —"
"And nothing Von. He hit you! Multiple fucking times!"
"Can you stop yelling!"
"No, I cannot stop yelling because you need to hear this. You're my bitch and I'm not about to sit here and let you keep running your ass back into this toxic mess. He put his hands on you, Von. What you want to be dead next? Is that it? Please let me know" I waited for her to say something.
"I'm waiting Vonnie." I looked to her and tears began to swell up in her eyes.
We've all had that first love before. Just so happens Vonnie's is someone who can't keep his hands to himself. They were perfect for each other until that night. Von came banging on my apartment late with her face leaking of blood because he beat her ass for coming in the house too late. Von was leaving my crib that night but that still isn't an excuse to abuse your partner. Von knew the things Ricky did behind her back and in front of her face. The cheating, beating, drinking, and assuming became consistent. She'll fuss about it but never really took action because that was her first love and she was in denial and weak to him.
"He's crazy Jay." She finally uttered out.
"Well, you are going to the police station. I'm tired of this."
"No no no no! Not yet he might leave me alone. I didn't text back when I saw he texted but I had the urge to." She sniffed dishing in the glove compartment for some napkins. I sighed in relief.
