The Arranged Married

Chapter 3

10.25 AM, Martin Sun Apartment, Batam.

An understanding friend is hard to have, that is why Vanessa loves Rose so much. It has been a week after Vanessa went to Surabaya with her fiance, Dave. Rose is still doing her daily activities without getting any update from Vanessa. Does she worry? Of course, she does. But she just doesn't want to disturb her best friend right now. Usually, she gets update from Vanessa by Wheresapp messenger. Whenever Vanessa thinks that she needs to update Rose, she just calls or sends her messages. Not only Vanessa does the updating, but also Rose. Though, she has less things to be updated to Vanessa, she won't let her best friend missed any part if it is important to her. Of course, they have personal social media accounts. Vanessa often updates pictures and status on her social media accounts, but Rose rarely does it. She prefers to spend her time on using her business accounts  for business purposes and she only can be contacted by Wheresapp messenger for personal purposes. After all, even though there are some differences of them, they both always can understand each other well.

Right now, Rose is replying her customers' messages from the online shop. She hasn't had a breakfast since she woke up this morning because she has been busy with her online shop. She realizes that her online shop is getting high orders and it is obviously higher than last month. She runs all her online shop accounts on social media by herself, she is not like her family in Bandung. Her mother owns some boutique outlets that sell Indonesia Batik clothing for men and women, of course she hires many of employees to run her businesses. Her father owns few men shoe stores, and her only one younger brother has owned few online shops that sell branded accessories for men. Her family always ask her to hire an employee to help her, but she insists to not hire anyone for now. In a word, she likes to do her job alone by herself.

Suddenly, Rose hears her apartment door is being unlocked by someone from the outside. She walks out from her living room and surprises to see Vanessa is the person who opens the door. Vanessa goes into the apartment while pulling her luggage and locks the door.

"I thought you were going for two weeks.", Rose says while helping Vanessa pulls the luggage.

Vanessa only be quiet and walks into her room. She looks gloomy and her eyes are swollen.

Rose follows Vanessa to her room. "Are you okay?"

"We're broken up. I'm not with Dave anymore."

"What? Are you kidding me?"

Vanessa lies on her bed and starts crying. Rose passes her a tissue box from Vanessa's make up table.

Vanessa says slowly, "It was his family. I met them after 3 days I reached there because they were so busy. I thought they would open their arms to accept me into their family. But..."

Rose is still quiet and waiting for Vanessa continues her story.

"They said, a woman like me would never be accepted in their family."

"What's wrong with them? Can't they see that you are a nice person?"

Vanessa looks at Rose deeply and says, "Because I am an orphan, and I don't have high education. They said, I shamed their family name and it would bring their family social status became lower."

Rose hugs Vanessa to calm her. She is speechless after she hears the fact what Vanessa facing right now. She never expected that Vanessa would face this kind of problems because everybody knows that Vanessa is a cheerful, nice, and friendly person.

After Vanessa decides to have a nap, Rose immediately finishes her job before evening. She rearranges some stuffs to be shipped by next day. In addition, she sends notice to all affected customers just to inform them. Then, she eats her brunch which she has ordered through online service application. Though, she doesn't even have any appetite to eat after what happened to her best friend but she knows that she also can't help much in this case. Obviously, she also feels sad by the words that Dave's family said to Vanessa.
