What Happened In My Life

Not what I expected.

Class ended so fast so immediately walked to our rehearsal room. On my way there I heard them singing so walked faster to only meet Oye, Ella and Hannah singing.
"You guys sounded so nice, what song was that? I even thought the room would be full by now. ",I smiled to them.
"Dhp! Dhp! Dhp! ", they shouted.
I really regret this. So meaning I can't go anywhere without people saying that? It really bores me.

"Guys it's okay please I don't want to hear that", I snapped
"Then what do you want to hear?", Hannah looked annoyed.
"Just don't say it again to me or call me that!", I'm really getting angry but I try my best to let it go.
"Anyway what's new today? ", I tried to look cheerful.
"Mr. Agyei will be teaching us new songs today ", Ella looked excited.
"I hope you sing the solo and that will really enlighten the song", I looked at Hannah.
"Do you mean that? ", she looked confused.
"Yes of course, you have a really nice voice ", I sit by Oye and take her song book to go through what we already know.

We sung a few songs and it was wow. The voices blended and made it harmonious .
Hannah and I sing soprano while Ella and Oye sing alto. Our number increased within ten minutes after we sung.
"I'm sorry I'm late girls, I hope you'll all forgive me?", he looked at us with a funny sad face.
"Yes!  No! ", everyone replied differently.
He looked round searching for someone and I wonder who.
"You! ", he pointed me.
"Me?", now I'm confused.
"Didn't you get the Dhp position? ", whispering begun from every angle.
"Yes I did sir", I felt kinda weird admitting it.
"True, I'm proud of you yeah", he walked to me and shook my hand.
"We are all proud to finally have two prefects within us. One a dinning hall prefect who can help us get food and a health prefect just in case we fall sick or need something to treat our wounds. Let's give them an applause ", he also shook Ekua.

We had fun singing since the songs were high life making us dance. Our part leader taught us some verses while our choir master Mr. Agyei taught the other parts.
Yes! In our choir we have part leaders who see to it that their members learn the songs and sing it well in their various parts. Remember I told you about our rules and regulations, yeah that's also there. We rapped up and left for lunch. Today being Friday lunch is beans with gari. Many students don't come for this food because they think it's too poor looking, well we the Hunger girls don't joke with this food especially. It contains protein and very good for us but some don't know of that. They actually don't care what the food contains but the satisfaction they would get. It's all good.

The room looked empty outside but nope everyone was in.
"Dhp yeah yeah! Congratulations Dhp! ", they clapped as I entered.
" we'll eat pa pa! ", Salomey said as everyone begun to laugh.
"it's true oo", Abigail added.
I laughed at the thought and moved to my bed.
"Congratulations sister Mika, I hope I will always be your uplayer ", she smiled.
I laughed at her and said, "if only you stop annoying me".
"Done!  But just a little ", she also join me laugh.

We all slept today in actual silence till the alarm sounded for supper. Some ignored it and continued their sleep, others went to wash down while we the Hunger girls went for dinning. When we sleep like this and wake up, there's this yearning for food. I actually don't know why. Molly walked with me with our bags on her shoulders. I thanked her and took my bag back as we entered the hall. I had a seat and wanted to forget about being the new dhp for once.
"Those new dhps walk to the stage right now! ", the main Dhp Mavis shouted.
I felt my stomach jump. What again!

I did as commanded and met my partners there too.
"So you three are the ungrateful girls coming for our post right? ", she frowned and pointed at Augustina and herself.
We did nothing but stare at her. She made us guard the doors to avoid anyone from coming in OR going out. They shared the food and begun to eat after praying while we just stood there and looked at them. I felt so hungry and seeing them enjoy their meal made it worse. They stood again to pray then moved out to their classrooms leaving some pantry bowls on the tables. We were then told to pack every bowl into the kitchen then come for advice.
As annoying as it sounds we couldn't say no but obey.

Everything was done but our bellies were still empty.
"Take that pantry bowl and share", Sis Augustina pointed to a bowl on our far left.
I looked confused because ten people normally share one bowl and now she's telling we three to share one. Wow!
"So you girls couldn't come and introduce yourselves to us. I know Betty and Rita since they are in my committee but not you ", she looked disgusted seeing me.
"Who even gave you this position it's meant to be for my dear daughter Evelyn but here you are claiming it. Who do you think you are? ", she frowned and told me to knee down.

I did as commanded and felt so angry. Everytime I get so angry I cry, I actually have tears in my eyes right now because she's making me feel bad. Like I don't deserve it, I know I don't but she shouldn't rub it in my face. I saw Evelyn walk towards us as Mavis the bully hugged her.
"Evelyn here is supposed to have this position not you. Who told you that people outside my committee can be the dhp. I still don't get it. ", she looked up and down at me with such disgust then left.

"Mika don't mind her, she's just hurt I didn't get it. I will try and talk to her OK. ", Evelyn seemed nice and not even bothered about the situation. She spoke to Sis Mavis to let me get up and go.
"You are very lucky. Try and come here tomorrow late and you won't like me at all", she spat.

Can this get any worse, I didn't expect this at all. God why me, I know I'm stubborn but this is breaking me. Hmm. Prep was full of thoughts running through my head, whether to tell the authorities I don't want it or deal with things my way. I will definitely put Sis Mavis to shame if she thinks I don't deserve it.

I'm forgetting everything by sleeping it off as I lay on my bed.
