Ok so I adore these AUs and I have no idea why I haven't written this sooner as I am a fan of both Avatar and TF2 though primarily the former of the two. I haven't "written" in his accent cos it's a ball ache. Y'all know what a German accent sounds like. I'll leave it up to your imagination instead cos I'm super lazy.
So yeh. Have some random Medic stuff.

I hauled my friend up onto my back as I dragged her through my village, being unconscious she was a dead weight and I wasn't built to carry heavy loads like a body and my own injuries weren't making it any easier. "Help! I need a healer!" I called. No response. I knew we had a healer but I'd never seen him. I'd lived here my whole life and have never met this healer, he was a mysterious but highly respected man. I continued carrying her to the healer's home.
I entered uninvited not caring one bit for etiquette and placed her on the floor at the waterbender's feet. "Please Sir." I dropped to my knees, "she needs healing. We were jumped by bandits I fought back but she moved in the way to avoid one of them. I-I..." he picked her up without a word and took her over to a pool of water in the centre of the room. He began bending the water, if i didn't know any better I'd say the water itself was glowing, could his chi be that powerful to cause this, to give him such revered healing abilities. I stood to get a better look. "Will she be okay?" I asked. He turned to me, piercing grey/blue eyes staring at me through thin rimmed glasses perched on the end of his nose.
"I know these wounds." He visibly tensed, he clenched a fist and suddenly all muscles in my body contracted. I couldn't move. He lowered his hand and I was pushed to the ground, back into a kneeling position. "You. You can bend lightening. The most feared and dangerous form of firebending."
"You're- you're a bloodbender." I choked out. "It was an accident. I swear to you. I was raised here. A waterbending family." The look on his face was one of fear and intrigue.
"A different element in a family is very rare. How have you mastered such a despicable technique though?" His grip tightened and I could feel the pressure on my heart, I had seconds before death. That I knew.
"I... I." I couldn't manage to say anything else as my breath was squeezed from my lungs and my vision began to fade to black. Then suddenly a rush of oxygen, my hands grasped my throat as I gulped as much air as I could.
"Spit it out Before I immobilise you again."
"I learnt it from watching waterbenders." I stood up with hands outstretched. Using two fingers I began drawing fluid movements through the air. "The fluidity Of their movements the way their chi moves through their bodies." As I spoke small sparks flew from my fingertips "like water it will continue moving, I just have to create a path for it to move." I aimed my fingers to the hole in the ceiling through which allows smoke from his fire to escape and allowed the created electricity to flow. He looked stunned. "What I did to my friend. Like I said, we were attacked. I defended how I knew best and she dodged one of them and got in my way. By then it was too late. I just want her to be okay. I swear."
"Your friend will be fine." He walked over and knelt in front of me. "She is healing, you need my attention too." He spoke addressing the blood covering the my lower abdomen soaking my shirt. He reached out to lift my shirt to which I stepped back, wincing in pain. "You'll bleed out like that."
"No I won't." He looked at me like I was stupid. I sighed stepping forwards again, lifting up the shirt as I did so. "I burnt it shut. Don't you dare heal me. I did that!" I pointed to my unconscious friend, tears in my eyes. "I'll heal slowly and painfully like I deserve! Thank you." I turned to leave but again I could not move. "You dare and I'll give you a burn not even you can heal!" I threatened. His grip released.
"I apologise for acting the way I did. Someone with your ability took my family from me. I let my pain cloud my judgement." He spoke from behind me. "Please. Allow me to heal you." I turned back and sat in front of him. In his hands he held a small orb of water, "Please. It will be easier if you lay on your back." I did as instructed and he held the water to my wound. It was painful but also relieving and cooling. He closed his eyes, breathing deeply to focus his energy into the healing. The feeling was one I'd never experienced. I'd never been healed like this, there was pain then nothing then this relief, I can't even explain it. "Now. If you could get into the pool of water over there." He gestured to a pool of water next to my friend. I laid down in it as he began to bend the water around me, again closing his eyes as if to feel inside my body using the water.
When he stopped I sat up. "Your external injuries will heal on their own and there is no internal damage." He smiled. "You're not like other firebenders I've met." He said, with a flick of his wrist a stool of ice rose from the ground.
"I grew up here remember. How have I never seen you though?" I asked. "You are a renowned healer. Everyone respects you."
"No." He turned away. "They fear me." He walked over to my friend, once agin bending the water around her. "They fear my bloodbending. They fear my short temper and my irrational reactions. You saw that first hand."
"That was your fear. Not theirs. It was my fault. I caused that fear." I walked over and placed my hand upon his shoulder. He forced my hand from him using his bending.
"You think I asked to be this way! To have this curse! To have this bending that I can't control! It comes as easy as breathing!" Once again the grip on my wrist tightened, more and more and more until snap! I cried out in pain but this did nothing I was raised from the ground the blood in my body pulling me up. "My father called this a gift! Look at you! I have complete control! I could make you kill yourself, kill her! Anything! Many waterbenders can only do this in the full moon I can do it as I please! I don't want this! So it is me they fear!" He released all control over me and I fell as a heap on the floor.
I laid there crying and it seemed to snap him from his anger. He turned and hurried towards me, I backed away, using my non broken hand to create a small ball of fire. "See. Now even you fear me. Now you understand why I never leave here." He looked so broken. I sat up extinguishing the flame in my hand. I leant forward, not saying a word, holding my broken wrist out to him. He took it in his large hands, encircling it in glowing water. Again the pain subsided.
I got up and walked over to him. I just smiled up at him, "ever think being alone isn't helping you?"
"No one wants to be around me."
"I will. I'll come back tomorrow, promise." I stood up on my tiptoes and kissed the man's cheek. "Thank you for healing my friend... and sparing my life." I smiled and walked home.
I returned the next day, my friend was up and sat in a recovery bed, a bandage around her chest but otherwise okay. This continued for a few days while he kept an eye on her healing.
After about a week he said she could go home, she walked home with her sister while I stayed back with the healer. "I presume this will be our last meeting." he spoke as he organised the herbs on his shelves. "You have no reason to be seeing me again. Your wounds have healed and your friend has gone home." He refused to look at me and it hurt. I had grown close to this man in the past week. We'd talk about god knows what. He'd teach me basic, non bending healing. I'd tell him properly about how I used waterbending techniques to further my firebending.
"Why should that stop me seeing you?" I questioned. "I have enjoyed this."
"As have I." He admitted, I could see his lips curl up into a small sincere smile. He quickly turned away, "but I'm afraid I've grown some kind of attachment to you. I can't allow that to get worse."
"What do you mean?"
"You are the first person to show me compassion and treat me like something other than a monster." He shrugged.
"Because you're not. You're just hurt. You can't help what you do. Like I said, spending time with someone may help... and I Uh, I do really enjoy your company."These meetings continued, as time went on it changed from me going to his home to him coming on walks with me. At first children would bend snow at him, people would shout things at him. Sometimes he would retaliate but others I helped him control his anger.
We'd take evening strolls, especially on nights when the moon was full we'd sneak out the village and down to the coast. It would allow him to relieve stress, to bend the ocean, something so vast that would 'fight back', it was amazing to watch, someone so at one with their element.
These weeks turned into months and before I knew it into years. One day I dropped by to see how he was doing, to no surprise he was at his desk working on something, healing notes I assume. I ran over, draping my arms over his broad shoulders. He quickly hid what he was doing under his arms which he crossed over the desk. "Ah. Y/N. I wasn't expecting you." He laughed nervously.
"Well I had to come see my favourite healer didn't I?" I laughed gently kissing his cheek. He stood and turned to me, his hands behind his back. "Whatcha got there?" I tried stepping around him only to have him face me wherever I went. "Come on. Quit playing games." I laughed causing him to smile. "Come on. We're going for a walk! There's a wonderful market in the village and they even have some fire nation food, you HAVE to come with me and try some!" I laughed pulling his arm dragging him towards the door. He placed whatever was in his hand into his pocket and followed me. We walked hand in hand through the snow to the small market. We bought bits and pieces for ourselves and I bought things for my family. I visited the fire nation stall, so much stuff to choose from, I settled on an advanced firebending scroll and a few snacks at the recommendation of the stall owner.
I found my dear healer with a small child. He knelt in front of the child who had slipped on some ice. He melted a small patch of water and quickly healed the ankle of the child who got up and hugged him round the waist. He's never been one for too much physical contact and patted the child on the head who just ran on their way. He stood up and noticed me standing there, red dusted his cheeks as he walked over scratching the back of his neck. "You have no idea how cute that was." I smiled elbowing him in the ribs. "Do you believe people fear you now?" I smiled.
"No. And I thank you for that." He lead me onto a bridge we always stand on to watch the stars from but today it was the sunset. "About that... all you've done for me. I am ever so grateful for what you've helped me with but I'm afraid we cannot continue like this." He had a straight face, like when delivering bad news. I could feel my heart breaking in two.
"We can't just keep meeting up and pretending it means nothing. We've done so much and I feel you and I will revolutionise the practice of medicine."
"So you want me to be your work partner?" I asked. He shook his head smiling.
"I'm doing this all wrong. Forgive me." He pulled out whatever was in his pocket and placed it in my hand. "Just one answer. Please." I looked down to see a beautifully intricate betrothal necklace in my hand. The hand carved stone baring the symbol of the fire nation combined with that of Tui and La, the ocean and moon spirits. I placed the necklace back into his hands and turned away from him, I pulled my hair over one shoulder and waited. Nothing. I turned back and he was gone. I looked around and there he was, walking up the steps to his home, his head low.
I ran after him tackling him into the soft snow. "You idiot!" I laughed. "If you waited seconds longer you'd have had your answer." I rested my forehead on his. "You should know I'd never say no." I leant down kissing him gently. "Do you know how hard it is to tie those around your own neck?" I laughed. "I was wanting you to do it for me. Actions do speak louder than words you know." I helped him up and turned away once more. This time he came up behind me, carefully tying the necklace around my neck. Once done he wrapped his arms around my waist, resting his chin atop my head. "You've helped me so much. I'm not normal by any stretch of the term but I'm getting there." He bent down and kissed my temple. "Thank you."-Jadieelynchx
