"Good Game guys." I spoke into my headset, sitting back in my gaming chair, switching over to Skype to see my friends with whom I'd been playing. "Now I think we can all agree that I am the superior medic right?" I laughed. "And you can all stop lying to yourselves." We all laughed and chatted for a while until we all left.
I logged off my computer and made my way downstairs to my kitchen to grab a cuppa before bed.
My kettle had just boiled when someone knocked on the door. I looked out of the peephole in the door and saw nothing. I opened the door looking around. Probably just some kids. I was about to shut the door when I heard a wheeze, I looked at the ground and I couldn't believe what I saw. He looked just like Medic, laying on the ground. "Sir. Are you okay?" He tried to sit up but collapsed again. I pulled him into my lounge and my training as a nurse kicked in. I checked him over for injury and determined that he was suffering from severe shock. I kept him lying on the floor and elevated his feet, keeping him warm and waited for him to regain consciousness.
While I waited I searched his person for any form of ID. This man can't be Medic, that's impossible. He's probably a cosplayer or an actor or something like that. My search turned up nothing. I sat with my tea and kept an eye on him until he woke up.
A few hours later he woke up. "Hello?" He spoke, sitting up.
"Ah. You're awake." I smiled, handing him a glass of water.
"Where am I?" He asked looking around. This guy even had a German accent, no, stop it. That's not possible.
"My lounge." I laughed. He did quirk a smile but I could tell he wanted a serious answer. "London. UK."
"What's the date?" He asked.
"24th of November, 2019." He Just sat there, shocked.
"That's not possible." He mumbled to himself.
"Yeh. I have a calendar right here." I handed him my phone open on the calendar, he just looked confused.
"What is this?" He asked, examining the device.
"Mobile phone." I stated obviously. "Now it's my turn for questions. Who are you?"
"Just call me Medic." He shrugged.
"You're really going with that. First I thought it was weird that you are dressed like him, then you had no ID on you, not even a wallet and now you say your name is Medic." I laughed. "Come on mate. Who put you up to this? Was it Alice?"
"Fräulein. I have no idea what you are talking about." I ran to my room, pulling down an old TF2 poster holding it out in front of him.
"That's who you're pretending to be. They know he's my favourite character."
"That's my team... Wait. Maybe I didn't travel in time. Maybe this is another dimension. One where we are fictional characters, game characters." He mumbled to himself. "Go turn on this game. Now. Show me." He demanded. I helped him up the stairs and sat in front of the screen. I went to character selection but there was a problem, no medic. I picked up the old poster, again, no medic.
"This is super creepy." I pulled up my texts and messaged Alice. 'Is your TF2 playing up?' She quickly responded.
'Nah. Why?'
'Medic isn't there.'
'Who?'
'Medic. Crazy German doctor. Heals the others. You know. My main.'
'Sweetie. You main sniper. Are you confusing this with a different game? Been playing a little too much Overwatch recently?'
'Yeh. Maybe. I'll get some sleep then.' I put my phone down. "So. No one knows you in the game now. Yet I remember you. You're here."
"Perhaps because I'm here you remember. I don't know but I need to get back." He sat in my gaming chair, thinking.
"I'll help you. I'm pretty handy when it comes to all things TF2. But first you should get some rest. So uh," I rummaged in drawers for some blankets and also found some clothes my brother left when he last visited. "You can use these. The bathroom is through there and there's a guest room down the hall."
A few minutes later he walked back in with his clothes folded in a neat pile. I placed my book on my bedside table and sat up. "Is there somewhere I can wash these?" He asked.
"Just throw them in the basket and I'll wash them tomorrow. I need to wash my scrubs too." I smiled.
"Scrubs?"
"I'm a trainee nurse. Fresh out of med school." I grinned. "Also. You're not gonna kill me are you? Or experiment on me. You forget, I know you."
"Nein. I need your help." He smiled. "Danke for allowing me to stay. Miss.. uh."
"Y/N." I filled in for him.
"Y/N. Gute Nacht." He said before walking down to the guest room.
"Night." I called after him.
I woke up the next morning to my white cat sat on my chest. "Oh. Good morning Archimedes. I had the strangest dream last night." I spoke, stroking his soft fur. "I dreamt that-" I was cut off by a knock on my bedroom door. I picked up my cat, cautiously opening the door. "Ok. Maybe it wasn't a dream." I mumbled into Archie's fur.
"Good Morning Fräulein." He greeted. "Und who is this?" He asked, scratching Archie behind his ears.
"Archimedes, or just Archie." I smiled. "So. How about breakfast?"
"Sounds gut." We walked downstairs and I made pancakes. "So. I was up all night planning how to get back and I have a lost of all the things I need to make another teleporter." He produced the list onto the table.
"Medic. This stuff is so expensive. I can't afford any of this." I shrugged. "I'm a trainee nurse. You'd need to be..." i stopped mid thought.
"What? Need to be a What?"
"A doctor." I smiled. "A doctor earning a six figure salary."
"If you know me like you say you do. You'll know that I can't practice medicine." He shrugged.
"People in this dimension don't know that." I smirked.
