Tobi laughed out loud. Grace was confused.

'Sister, that trick is old. No one falls for it anymore.' Tobi said.

She laughed. Grace wondered what was amusing them.

'Grace, this is Tina's mum, Chioma.
This is Grace, Precious mum.' Tobi introduced them.

'Oh, you are the mother to that lovely girl. It is so nice to meet you.' She said and hugged Grace.

Grace who was still taken aback with the just concluded drama hugged her back with a withdrawn spirit.

'I'm a hugger, don't mind me.' She said smiling. Grace smiled too.

'Nice to meet you too.' Grace said simply.

Grace took her time to take a deep breathe, some minutes ago, she had just concluded this lady was Tobi's girlfriend or mistress, whichever she fits in.

'Let's go to the party area. The children have been gathered around already and they've started their fun. Parents are already moving to another area for the parents hang out.' Chioma informed them.

She had a loud melodious voice. She sounded like she was dropping ryhmes as she spoke. Grace and Tobi followed her as she led the way to where the parents were. As they got closer, Grace sighted Theresa. She hissed silently and wondered if they have to cross paths always. Chioma wore a big smile as she started greeting all the parents there. She left them as she was fully endorsed in the exchange of pleasantries. Grace smiled to the few people she made contact with, while Tobi talked to a few men, some women looked at him and Grace could tell they admired him.

Who wouldn't anyway? He is tall, dark, handsome with a well structured body that could be mistaken for that of an athlete. Grace shuddered at the thoughts of his abs. Gosh! His voice alone made her shiver, sending cold thrills through her spine. His teeth, pure white and well set, looks really strong. His lips were naturally pink, so obvious and he smiles almost every time. His dimples, goodness, his dimples is something else, staring at it makes it looks as if you are drowning with the skin that sinks in whenever it is visible. His fingernails were beautiful too. Grace felt it should belong to a woman and not a man. She smiled to herself.

'Who invited the ugly duckling here?'

Grace was certain it was Theresa. She put on a firm mask and turned to her, she smiled hardly.

'Hello.'

Theresa scoffed. 'Hello?' She frowned. 'Don't play good and nice lady here after you have showed me the beast you can be.'

'Theresa, I really want you to stay away from me. You are really like a leech on my skin. What did I ever do to you?' Grace said with all sincerity.

Theresa just looked with no exact hard feelings expression.

'Good day, Ma.' Tobi greeted Theresa as he joined Grace. He had noticed the uneasy look Grace had on while talking to her, he excused himself from the little group that was formed around him.

Theresa smiled as she slowly turned to him. She recognized him.

'Hello to you to. It's you.' She said.

Tobi gave an unknowing look.

'You. The one who was so brave to ask me to leave the stage.' She said proudly.

Tobi understood her. He smiled.
'I'm sorry if you took it as an offence but I meant well.'

She nodded. 'I see.' She said and looked at Grace. She walked away.

Grace sighed.

'Are you okay?' He asked as he touched her shoulders.

'Yes. Thank you.' She smiled to him.

A waiter passed by with barbeque and wine, Tobi took a glass and offered it to Grace.

'Thanks.' She said, he nodded with a smile. She somewhat felt embarrassed. She looked away.

'I wonder what I'm doing here actually.' Tobi said as he looked around. Grace looked at him but said nothing. 'I mean, its parents hangout and I'm here. It is funny because I don't even have a wife.' He laughed, Grace didn't.

'You can consider Tina your daughter till you have yours.' Grace said and drank her wine at a gulp.

'Greetings to you my pretty lady.' A man said to Grace, Tobi laughed.

'Dami, seriously?' Tobi asked jokingly

Grace was confused.

'I appreciate good things. The lady is exceptionally pretty.' Dami said and laughed.

'Let your wife catch you.' Tobi replied.

'That's if her husband doesn't catch me first.' He said and laughed again.
Grace smiled.
'I'm Dami, Tina's father.' He said and brought his hand out for a shake. Grace took his hands.

'I'm Grace.'

'Nice to meet you.' Dami said. She nodded.
'I hope you don't mind me. I need Tobi's attention now and I'll love it if you excuse him.' He asked politely.

'I don't.'

'Okay. Tobi, come with me.' He said and started walking off.

'Feel comfortable. I'll see you later.' Tobi said and left.

Grace caught herself smiling. She stopped and walked to the railings. She stayed there till the party was over. She smiled when it was necessary and contributed to the parents discussion when she was forced to say something.

She stayed like that till the end of the party. She really hoped and wished Tobi would come back and talk to her more. The party ended some minutes past five, she found Precious with a lot of gifts. She had won them from dancing and singing.

'Did you see Uncle Tobi today?' Precious asked as Grace drove home.

'Yes.' Grace said smiling.

'Why are you smiling?' Precious asked. Grace stopped smiling.

'What?'

'Did you see him that much? I only saw him once.' Precious said and pouted her mouth.

Grace laughed. 'But you had fun, didn't you?'

Precious smiled. 'I did. Lots and lots of fun.'

Grace smiled and wished she could say she had lots and lots of fun. Maybe she could have had lots and lots of fun only if Tobi had stayed with her throughout.
