This is a staple of any childhood everyone has great memories of camping in the great outdoors.
But, really my family didn't do camping. It wasn't really a thing. My dad hates tents as he's tall and thinks it's really uncomfortable so can't sleep. However, I still have a couple experiences.
First, when I was in yr6/yr7 me my sister, my bro and my mum went into the lake district for our first camping experience. Dad refused to come. Of course! We were in this big event so were in a massive field. Only one downside. That field hadn't been cut in ages so the grass was knee high (to a smol child). The bigger problem was that it was traditional British camping weather - rain. So this meant stepping out of the tent was the equivalent of stepping into a small stream. Well it made your clothes that wet :'). *cries sadly*
It was enjoyable though despite the rain but it was a bit ambitious for a first experience. But it was good as we just rented all the stuff and didn't have to buy it.
Another, ........memorable........ experience from this first trip was the air bed deflating on the FIRST NIGHT so mum and my bro ended up on the floor to sleep. We did end up buying a new one though at one of the many stores. But a little stressful for a first night.
Let's just say it was an..........experience!!
Another, more good experience was Youth Camp. I think many youth groups would/will do these but they were amazing and I have so many awesome memories.
We had them yearly at a campsite in the woods but we weren't roughing it too much as there was a kitchen, showers and indoor areas to hide from the rain (this happened more than we would've liked). There were tents that we slept in (or not in some ppl's cases) and they were fine but we barely went into them.
We had water games and fun crafts as well as awesome food and a really fun campfire that we had a dance and sing around. It was really fun and I made a load of great friends from it.
