I woke up in my sweet little room from the buzzing of my ugly alarm clock. After stuffing our faces with brownies last night we went to bed since I had jet lag and wasn’t much fun when I was tired. Today is enrollment! I thought sleepily rolling out of bed and going towards my bathroom. I was excited but I was too tired to act on it. After getting ready, I walked out into the kitchen where Caroline was separating some cereal for us
“Good morning!” I said my voice still a bit croaky from sleep
“Good morning!” she said back
“How did you sleep?” I asked
“Eh ok, I decided to leave my window open to let in some fresh air but I could hear those girls screaming from all the way down here” she said rolling her eyes
“Isn’t it just a block away?” I asked
“Well two to be exact” she said filling her cereal bowl with milk
“Are they in town or something?” I thought I heard they would be coming back for a bit then going off somewhere else
“I think they did actually get back into town late last night” she mused
I took my cereal bowl to the table and sat down eating it slowly. It felt weird to be only two blocks away from one direction I had never met them in my life but I would like to. I got busy wondering if I would see them around. I heard the radio start to play and Caroline sat down across from me eating her cereal and bopping her head to the music. After we ate and washed up I grabbed my draw string bag and she grabbed her purse. We decided to walk since it was a lovely summer day that wasn’t too hot and the university was just a block away. We stopped by a Starbucks and got some smoothies since it was a bit too warm for coffee. We walked through this lovely little park that had a wooden arch bridge and a little lake/pond thing that was filled with paddle boats and canoes. We saw an elderly couple that couldn’t get their boat into the water, I walked up to them
“Are you guys having some trouble?” I asked smiling, they were such a cute couple
“Yes! We can’t seem to get the boat into the water!” the elderly lady laughed a sweet laugh that reminded me of my grandma
“Here, I can help!” I said handing my phone and smoothie over to Caroline “you better sit down sir” I said as he was still standing up in the boat, once he sat down I pushed off with all I had. It floated out into the water
“Thank you!” they called to me
“No problem!” I called back as they paddled around snuggling together I smiled and waved, what a cute little couple.
I took my phone and smoothie back from Caroline and we continued walking through the park talking about the university
“Are you excited?” Caroline asked
“Of course! What are you majoring in?” it seemed to have slipped my mind
