Light spent what felt like days, months, even years reliving the good old days when he was handcuffed to the detective who suspected him of murder, instead of handcuffed to a bed in the middle of nowhere. He tried yelling for help on and off but his throat was parched and sore. He was starting to worry about death by starvation or thirst. He knew thirst killed quicker. If only his thirst for Ryuzaki could save him. He didn't want to see his lover's corpse, but the temptation to look was too strong. He was just checking that the body was still there, that it hadn't rose during Light's slumber and marched out of here in zombie form. A quick look confirmed that hadn't happened. It also broke his heart all over again He forced himself to hold back tears, not taking the risk of losing any liquid and hastening dehydration. Funny how he'd been too cold hearted for most of his young life to find anything to cry about and now his life depended it on. He briefly wondered how much extra time a few unshed tears would buy him. Not much but every second counted. Of course, there were other liquids he'd have to lose... He clenched his legs together, as if that would stop him from pissing in the bed. How humiliating, he thought. He'd probably be found dead in his own piss, or worse. He didn't want an undignified death. Not he, who had held control over other's lives and deaths. He deserved to live forever!

If he met the old god that the world believed in, whether before or after his own death, he would give his signature smirk and tell them to sit down.

He'd rather meet L though. He took deep breaths to stop the tears coming. He closed his eyes and was just reaching peace when another voice interrupted him.
