Let The Games Begin!
I left August outside my apartment as I got dressed. I threw off my dance clothes and rummaged through my drawers desperately trying to find something cute to wear. I don’t know why, but I had a feeling I had to dress in something cute. I finally decided on a dark pair of skinny jeans, a long sleeved, laced, cream colored shirt with a navy blue scarf. Then I put on my back boots and my green jacket. Once I finished getting dressed I put on some gold eye shadow and braided my hair on the side.

I have no clue how long it took me to get ready, so thinking I took at least a half hour, I ran out of my apartment and right as I got outside I run straight into August. Shit, this has got to stop happening. “We keep running into each other this way it seems” I say, looking down at my boots.
“Come on, let’s go” He decides to ignore our mishap and grabs my hand to lead me down the stairs. When we get outside I tug my arm free of his grasp. He turns around, confused.
“Where are we going?” He looks at me for a second before speaking.
“I’m not telling you” He replies, smirking. Fine, if he wasn’t going to tell me, I was going to make him.
“What do you think you are doing?” I ask.
“I am taking you out on a date… like I said earlier?” He replies. Alright, I can do without the sass Mr. Turner…
“Tell me where we are going, or I’m not coming.” I say. He looks at me, and then decides to give me the puppy dog face, pleading me to come along. “No. What do you think you’re doing? Kidnapping me?” I joke. Suddenly his face turns mischievous. I suddenly regret my words just as he runs over to me and slings me over his shoulder like a rag doll. “Put me down!!” I yell. He doesn’t listen. August just keeps walking as if this is a daily routine. I smack his back, but he doesn’t respond. After a few paces I decide to smack his back again, but this time I miscalculate where to place my hand and I end up smacking his ass. I immediately stop fighting and I can feel myself blush. I can feel the rumble of his chest as he laughs.
“Wow, I didn’t think you were in that kind of mood, love” I know for a fact he is grinning over there.
“Let me down, right this instant!” I protest.
“Sorry, love. Besides, I’m enjoying my view, just as much as you are” He chuckles. This makes me feel more uncomfortable considering I now know he is staring at my butt. But then I get an idea.
“August?” I saw sweetly.
“Yes, Peyton?” He replies.
“Can you please let me down?”
“Nope” He replies, popping the p.
“If you let me down, I’ll give you a kiss…” I fight the urge to grin as I let the offer sink in. After a few seconds I’m quickly placed back on the ground. I look at August and grin. He wraps his arms around my waist, loosely. I put my arms on his neck.
“Now, you hold up you’re part of the deal!” He says, anxiously. He begins to lean in and close his eyes. This was my opportunity! I slip free from his grasp quickly then run off in front of him.
“Hey!! You liar!” He shouts as I suspect, following me. I turn many corners and when I look behind me I can’t see him. Pleased with myself I stop running and walk around the corner. I only get 5 feet from the turn until I’m begging picked up and held tightly. He puts me back down and once again wraps his arms around my waist.
“Gotcha’” He whispers. I can smell the mint in his breath and I suddenly wonder what it would feel like to have his lips against mine. He gets closer and closer to my neck. Then traces my jaw line with his nose until he gets near my lips. He quickly kisses me on my cheek then releases me and starts to run forward. “That’s so not fair!!” I yell. I stand still and he stops running. He holds out his hand, offering me to take it. I catch up to him and take his hand as he leads me to a small shop across the street.
“Dammit. It’s closed” He says.
“Wow... Smooth.” I say jokingly. I roll my eyes and he just smirks. “Well, what are we going to do now?” He thinks about it for a second, but then his face lights up.
“We could go to my apartment and watch movies?” I know I’m not going to do anything with him, so I agree. When we finally get there we both sit down on the couch.
“Guest picks the movie!”
“No way!” After a few minutes of arguing I suggest Coraline since he hasn’t seen it. He finds the movie on Netflix, and after it loads, the movie begins.
“You scared me to death you mangy thing! Look, I’m just looking for an old well, know it? … Not talking, huh? Magic dowser, magic dowser, show me, the well!!” Shouts Coraline as she attempts to find the well. After halfway through the movie I get up to go get a glass of water. I pick out a glass from a cabinet and fill it with water. I take a long drink then set it down on the counter. When I turn around, August is incredibly close to me. He looks at me for a few seconds, and before I know it, he presses his lips to mine. But I’m so shocked I don’t kiss him back.
“I’ve wanted to do that since the first time I met you” He says
“I uh… I don’t-“I stammer
“I know you like me, Peyton. Don’t try and hide it.” He says, stepping back. This gets me frustrated that he is making accusations.
“No, I don’t August. It might come as a surprise to you, but not everyone likes you!”
“I’m not stupid, Peyton! You know just as well as I do that you wanted me to kiss you. Don’t even try to say otherwise!”
“Oh please! You’re so full of yourself. I do not like you”
He steps closer now, still clearly frustrated. “I know you have begun to like me. I would bet my life on it. I bet I could make you fall in love with me, easily.”
“Psh, yea right. I think you’re making it seem too easy.” I remark
“It would be.”
“Is that a challenge?” I retort. He steps closer to me so that we aren’t even an inch apart. He puts his hands on my hips, and then leans down slowly to my ear. “Wanna play a game?” he whispers, almost seductively. His whisper tickles my neck and sends chills down my spine.
“And what are the rules of this game? “I whisper back, although I’m sure my whisper didn’t have the same effect on him as his did on me. I can feel myself getting hot, and my heart pounding in my chest.
“We pretend date. We call and text each other all day, send good morning and good night texts, play fight, hang out with each other’s friends, hang out together all the time, hug, kiss, and cuddle.”
“And who ever fall in love first?” I reply.
He leans back down to my ear, but moves close to my neck. “Loses” He breathes against my neck. He leans back up, smirking. I lean in and kiss him again. This time placing my arms around his neck. His arms wrap around my waist and pull me closer to him. Right when I know he wants more, I pull away, and then wink. I walk back to the couch making sure my hips sway. Because guess what, August, two can play at that game. And I was going to win.
