Chapter 10

After a bit, the pain in my head was too much to bear, and I sat down, clutching my temples.

"Clover? Are you okay?" asked Hailey.

I didn't say anything, but looked off into the snowy trees, and absentmindedly undid my scruffy braid to find my hair was now down to my waist, and back to it's normal curly waves.

"Clover?!" Allia said, shaking my shoulder, looking concerned.

"Moo?" I said, looking up. She looked confused, but then she relaxed slightly, knowing I was well enough to respond.

Kenny looked a little odd though. He kept staring at me like I was a BoomBot, (a device made by the Capitol that explodes randomly after a random date) that was way past its due date. He caught me staring back, and turned his head away.

"Guys? I think I heard a twig snap. Why don't we get outta here before someone or something finds us?" Hailey preposed.

The other two nodded, and I stood up, waiting for our troop to start moving.

We traveled all through the day, and I was thankful for my boots, which had long since lost their green color and now were a worn out brown, which still looked good. We came to a little clearing, surrounded by trees, and decided to set up camp there. As I wove vines into sleeping mats, Hailey was drawing something in the snow, Allia was shooting arrows at a knot in a tree nearby, with Kenny stealing a few now and then.

As night fell, we all decided that while we sleep, one of us should keep watch, just in case. Hailey volunteered, and the rest of us fell asleep, under the fake stars of the arena.

At midnight, I was woken up by a sharp scream from Hailey. She stabbed a tribute, a career, but it was too late. She had already been severely hurt, and she was losing blood, fast.

One guy (possibly Hermes?), had taken off after Kenny, only to get an arrow in the stomach as Kenny used one of Allia's arrows as his weapon. He then climbed up a tree, threw another arrow, missed, and then realized one career was cornering Allia. He jumped at the guy, and yelled as his foot connected with the career's neck, "I AM ALL OUT OF ARROWS!"

I heard the distinct snap of the guy's neck, and then the career fell over, limp. But Kenny's lucky streak was cut short when a HUGE career speared him, and I acted on a whim.

I sprang up, and quickly slit the gigantic man's throat, then whirled around to find Allia cradling Hailey's head, singing softly and stroking her hair. A girl, the last career, walked up behind Allia, and drew out a sword. I ran at the career, and tackled her. Allia backed away from Hailey, and looked around to see the career tackle me. The career attempted to slit my throat, but I smashed my elbow into her ribs, and heard her intake her breath. I realized I had punctured a lung, by the way she spit blood out onto my shirt, and then fell off me, her eyes glazed over. I turned around to see Allia running away from me, from all the death I was surrounded in, but one by one each tribute started to dissapear, with a cannon after each one.

I ran to Kenny, and knelt down by his body. I quickly grew a crown of grape vines, and placed it on his head. And then something surprised me. My necklace sprung open, and dropped a single seed onto Kenny's chest. It automatically glowed green, and sprouted. It was a beautiful blue flower. I recognized it at once. It was a forget-me-not.

"I won't Kenny, I won't." I said through tears. I finally stood up, wiped away my tears, and walked away. I only paused once when I heard his cannon sound, and then continued, not wanting to see the dreaful sight again.

NOOOOO! KENNY! HAILEY! RIP.... i miss them already! I hope none of you cried... but I did while writing it.... OH YEAH! NEXT CHAPTER I WILL BE ADDING A NEW CHARACTER BECAUSE MY FRIEND WAS NAGGING ME ON NOT HAVING ENOUGH ROMANCE... so yeah..
