chapter 23

Jordan's POV****

I lay sprawled across the floor hoping something would take away my suffering. Another kick was sent at my ribs as I yelped. Just put me out of my misery I think to myself as a evil laugh fills the air.

Suddenly I'm in a warm embrace. "Shh. I've got you" the voice whispered, not letting me go. I felt safe and warm. My nightmare then shifted to a beautiful dream.

I eventually awoke and sat up in the bed, looking around. My warm embrace was gone and the house seemed oddly quiet. I slid out of the bed and creeped out of the room, going down the hall. No one was in their rooms. I sneak down the steps of the stairs, hearing a conversation going on in the direction of the lounge.

"He can't have her. He will NOT take her away from me again" Ty demands. "What should we do to keep her safe?" Katherine asks. "Whatever it takes. Even if we have to risk our..." Adam starts. I cut him off by running into the room. "You will NOT risk your lives for me!" I yell, feeling anger boil in me. Silence followed. "Jordan..." Ty says but I raise a hand, stopping him.

"Don't do that to me!" I exclaim, running out of the lounge and outside. Tears fall from my eyes as I stop and look up at the stars. The cool Autumn breeze blows the hair out of my face and cools the tears that are falling. "WHY?" I yell, falling down on a pile of leaves, looking up at the stars. Why does he have to ruin my life just as it starts going well? Why would any of them risk their lives for mine? What's their reason? More tears roll down my cheeks as I sit up and pull my knees to my chest.

After sitting out there for about 45 minutes, I decide to go inside. I walk to the door of the lounge and peek in. Ty was pacing back and forth while the rest just remained silent with their heads down.

"I just can't let him take her" Ty whispers, sounding like he was on the edge of tears. "We know Ty and he won't" Adam replies. "How do you know that?" Ty questions, looking at him. "Because she has a very strong mind and a very strong family that loves her. That's our reason for trying to help. She's family" Adam says, looking back at Ty. I smile and walk into the room. "R-really?" I question, feeling tears run down my cheeks. Ty turns and pulls me into a tight hug. "Of course" Adam answers as I let go of Ty and hug him. "I love all of you guys so much" I choke out, smiling. "Group hug!" Nichole exclaims, pulling everyone into a hug. "Nope!" I yell, falling to the floor. "Claustrophobia getting to you?" June asks, chuckling. I nod as everyone pulls away and helps me up.
