Chapter 18. "I'm in love with you."

Felicity's POV

I saw a familiar car pull up in front of the bookshop later that evening, a wave of relief washing over me for once when I realized it was Annabelle. Her arriving meant my shift was finally over, and I could go home and work on what felt like my never ending pile of homework.

Unfortunately, that wave of relief soon turned to panic and annoyance when I saw who came out of the passenger side; Caleb LeBlanc himself.

I sighed as they walked in, saying, "I'm about to clock out, Annabelle, you two have fun."

"Felicity, wait," Caleb called out behind me just as I was about to go into the back. I hesitated, wondering if I should turn back around. "Can we talk?"

"What about?" I asked.

"I'm going to go clock in, I'll leave you two alone," Annabelle awkwardly interjected before running into the back.

"I wanted to see how you were doing," Caleb began, shoving his hands into the front pockets of his jeans, which was one of his nervous habits. "And I wanted to talk about everything that's happened."

"Then go for it, talk," I crossed my arms over my chest, leaning against the counter.

"Look, I think we both know that when we started sophomore year it got crazy. Our schedules made it so hard to even talk to each other, and we barely had time for each other, so I understand all of that. And I guess what I really wanted to say was that I'm sorry, for not being there to hear your side of the story, and for basically just jumping to conclusions and taking Jamie's side. It was stupid, honestly," Caleb came closer, and I hesitantly let him take my hands into his. He smiled down at me before continuing, "I don't deserve you, Felicity, so if you don't forgive me, I understand. I'm sorry for being so incredibly stupid, I should have listened to you; you're my girlfriend. And please, don't worry about Annabelle, she and I are just friends; it's you that I love. Hell, I'm in love with you, Felicity Eden Green. Do you think you can forgive me?"

I hesitated once again; he made it so hard to stay mad at him. I was upset that he didn't listen to my side of the story, sure, but it was honestly such a stupid reason to get mad at him over. Plus, he just admitted that he was in love with me, which made my heart melt.

I grinned and pulled him in for a hug. "Of course I can forgive you, Caleb. And I'm sorry too, for being a stupid jealous girlfriend."

"It's okay, Felly. I'm just glad we're okay again," Caleb replied.

I moved back so that we were facing each other, our eyes locked. I missed being so close to him. I smiled up at him and whispered, "By the way, I'm in love with you too, Caleb Logan LeBlanc." Then I leaned in and kissed him.

Kissing Caleb felt exactly like the first kiss, where it felt like it was only us in the world and nothing else mattered. There was so much emotion between us, bringing us closer together emotionally; it was an indescribable feeling you could never get tired of.

After we pulled away, Caleb said, "Hold on, I've also got something else for you." He ran back to Annabelle's car and returned with a white poster and copy of his Maze Runner book, grinning as he held the sign up, which read: WOULD YOU HELP NAVIGATE THE MAZE OF HIGH SCHOOL BY GOING TO HOCO WITH ME?

"I know it's cheesy and so unoriginal, but I was hoping this would put a smile on your face," Caleb laughed, his cheeks going slightly red.

"Aww, Cae, I'd love to go to homecoming with you," I smiled and kissed him again, thanking him as he handed me the poster and book. I looked out the window to see my dad's car waiting to pick me up.

"Guess that's my cue, see you tomorrow?" I said as my head nodded in the direction of my dad's car.

"See you tomorrow, Felly, I love you," Caleb hugged me one last time before letting me go.

"Love you too," I grinned before leaving the shop happier than I had been in days.
