Felicity's POV

The first month of school flew by in a flash, my afternoons and evenings after school consisting of cheerleading practice, studying, homework, and/or working at the book shop. I had a lot on my plate, and so did Caleb, and even though he was completely understanding of my busy schedule, I still felt bad about hardly ever having time to hang out with him.

"Hey, Felly," he greeted as I picked up his FaceTime call one Friday afternoon in October after school.

"Hi Cae, what's up?" I asked as I sat up on my bed.

"I was wondering if before the game, you wanted to grab something to eat? You know, kind of like a date?" Caleb asked with his signature smile. "We've never really been on one, have we?"

Caleb was right, we had never really been on a date before. We started dating right before school started, and we had both been busy every weekend where we hardly ever had time for each other. If we did see each other, it would always be at our houses, and not actually somewhere in public.

"You're right," I agreed. "But I'm really sorry, Caleb, I can't, I have to go to Jamie's before the game."

Caleb nodded, his smile smaller than before, but he didn't want to show me that he was upset. "It's okay. Maybe we could hang out afterwards? Sometimes I see some of the people from our school go to the nearby Dairy Queen after games."

"I could ask my parents, but isn't that kind of late?"

Caleb shrugged. "The games end around 10:30 if they don't go into overtime, so we'd probably only be there until 11:30. I can take you home."

"Okay, I'll ask my parents. But I have to go, Jamie's waiting for me," I replied.

"Alrighty, let me know. See you at the game," Caleb said with a wave before I hung up. I hated having to always cancel on plans with him, but I never had any more free time.

I quickly changed into my cheer uniform and tied my hair into a high ponytail before walking down the stairs. I told Mum I wouldn't mind riding my bike to Jamie's house, so I rode through the beautiful scenery before pulling up in front of Jamie's house.

Jamie's father opened the door with a smile on his face before allowing me inside. I headed up the familiar spiral staircase and up to Jamie's room.

"Jamie?" I knocked on the half open door, not hearing a reply. I slowly opened the door and saw she wasn't in there.

"Jamie is in the shower, she'll be out soon," her little sister, Jordan, replied as she skipped past the door. "You can wait inside for her."

I nodded and walked into Jamie's room, which was a light pink theme and almost looked like something you'd see from off a Tumblr blog. She had rose gold stringed lights above her bed with pictures attached to clips. I saw a couple of us together smiling and laughing, which brought a smile to my face.

"Oh, hey," I whipped my head around to see Jamie walking in. She was finishing tying her cheer bow as she approached me. "Sorry, I didn't know you were here already."

"It's alright, I was probably early anyway," I replied. "So, what did you invite me over before the game for?"

"Well, in a couple of weeks will be the Homecoming game, which is the night of the dance," Jamie began.

I raised my eyebrows. "And..? What does that have to do with me coming over?"

"Well, I was talking with some of the people on the Homecoming committee, including Annabelle," Jamie continued. "And they want the cheer squad to host a pep rally the day of Homecoming! What do you think?"
