the dust

this ones different. but it's better.

you know how when you sweep the dust into a dustpan
there's that tiny little line left behind?

and you're like
ugh, why couldn't that just get swept up too?

from here, there's two options.
leave the line or erase it.

if you leave the line, there's less work.
but the work isn't done.

so what happens is the next time you sweep
you leave the last line of dust behind again.

so now,
there's two lines.

and you see those lines and think damn
i should probably clean those. and then you don't.

so you sweep your room again and again
and all you get is more dust left behind.

you have to sweep the last little bit of dust.
you have to.

because then that dust leads to
more unfinished work. more mistakes.

and while those too things are okay sometimes,
the habit of not sweeping the last line

leads to work never to be completed
to mistakes never to be fixed.

so sweep it all up and throw it away.
tap the dustpan on the trashcan, too.
