Chapter 5

Jungkook looked at the little monster from the rearview mirror, he was sitting oddly quietly at the back with the injured puppy in his arms, whispering things into its fur from time to time. The other dogs were all nestled in a rather large box with a ragged towel underneath. Jungkook rolled his eyes and mentally cursed himself. The kid was like a fucking annoying boomerang. Always coming back when you throw it.

Earlier Jungkook had called Jin to get the address of that veterinarian friend of his, and now they were on their way to an animal clinic. But soon Jungkook hesitated as he arrived at the address. He was met with a shabby building. The area was dark with only a few lampposts here and there but they also were mostly not working well.

Jungkook got out of the car after parking it right in front of a garage door of the building. Then opened Taehyung's door and let him down from the car as he held the box of puppies in his hands. Jungkook went to the other side of the building where a red sprayed arrow on the wall said was the direction to the entranceway.

The building, from what Jungkook noticed, was no ordinary one. It wasn't an animal clinic nor did it look like anything pet-related. It was more like the places you would use to keep them hostage. Gloomy and dark. Inside, it looked like a laboratory. But very dusty and barely lit as some of the lamps were broken. A huge surgical table in the middle and a lot of boxes all huddled up around the corners, over each other which reached the ceiling. It surely looked scary so he wouldn't judge as the younger boy clinched the puppy to his chest and moved closer to the ravenette.

"WELCOME!" Someone from behind shouted and Taehyung flinched, moving closer to the other boy. As much as the little hated to admit but he could kind of feel some protection by staying close to the other. A man, around the same age as the tattooed boy, rushed out of the back door with a green attire and a white lab coat over. Looking comical but also a lot like those lunatic doctors in movies. From the small part that sleeves were rolled up, his tattooed covered arms could be seen which looked somehow off compared to the large nerdy thick glasses perched on his nose.

"Ah! Jungkook-ah! Never thought I'd find you here again." And he started to laugh weirdly loud, which made the little hiss in discomfort.

"Umm... Sejin-shi?" Jungkook asked hesitantly.

"The One And Only!!" The other cheered.

"Actually I  know two Sejin... But ok..." Jungkook shrugged then pushed the little human forward from where he was halfly hid behind him. Upon seeing the kid, the doctor looked confusedly at Taehyung then the older. He titled his head in puzzlement as he knew Jungkook didn't like children, and this youngster with him- "So, how can I help you? Jin told me about some injured dog?" Jungkook slightly shook the box in his hand, then place it in on the surgical bed beside him.

Taehyung seemed to collect his courage back as he cleared his throat to get the elders' attention. "Can you save him?" His voice was small and hesitant as he pointed with his head to the pup in his arms.

"Hmm, what happened to him?" Sejin asked as he came and crouched down in front of the little. Analyzing the dog to see if there were any visible injuries, gashes or not. When he didn't see anything, he looked up at the young boy. "Hm? You don't know what happened?" Sejin's voice was now lower and more serious than before. The professional voice, perhaps. Which to that, Taehyung shook his head no. Sejin hummed in understatement and then stood up to take a look at the other dogs in the box. "Are these your?" The pups looked abandoned, given their badly kept state and to confirm his thought, the little boy mumbled a small no. Sejin looked at the younger and saw him close to tears. "Don't be so sad. We're here to find out what's wrong, yeah? And see how can we help it."
