"Urggh!" Naina read the board and stomped her foot.
"Kya hai?" Preeti held her arm and made her sister face herself. "I told you to act being sick if you had no wish to attend this event but you wanted to be the ideal daughter that never lies to her parent. So stop complaining."
"I AM NOT COMPLAINING." Naina jerked her hand out of Preeti's grip. "My results are not out yet and I'm just a little frustrated. I had no wish to come here but everyone was going and I had no valid reason to deny."
"O bai!"
Preeti and Naina jerked their heads in the voice's direction.
"Taiji!" Preeti held Naina's hand and rushed into the community hall before their Taiji could scold them for anything.
But the old lady was too occupied to shout at her nieces for entertainment. She was busy in a verbal battle with her eldest brother in law Rakesh Agarwal.
"Ne waah! Rakesh Babu, if you had no wish to attend the event, you shouldn't have come here in the first place. What is the point of complaining over small details? We haven't even entered the hall yet and you have issues with the management already."
"Bhabhji aap toh rehne hi dijiye. I AM NOT COMPLAINING. It is too hot. I am just a little frustrated over how no one is out here welcoming us with atleast a glass of water. I should have been back home, helping Arjun with his cricket training but here I have to attend this function because log kya kahenge?" Rakesh humphed.
"Rakesh, Rakesh." Tauji caught up with the fighting Bhabhi - Devar "Even we have left our Parlay with Shefali for his English tuitions. Our children are growing up. There is no need to worry about them. Come on let's go inside."
As the Agarwals went inside the community hall, two white ambassadors halted outside the main gate. Security guards rushed to open the gates of the cars to welcome the famous Maheshwari family.
Before entering the community hall, Rakesh gave a disapproving look to the special treatment they were receiving.
"Bhai Sameer! I told you I am in a problem and you brought me here." Munna whispered in Sameer's ears while the elders were being welcomed.
"Me too!" Pandit added.
"That is because we couldn't discuss your problem at your home, you have been kicked out, remember? And our homes aren't safe either because our families don't know about your condition. Phone calls are risky and yes, now that we are all working we can't discuss your issues at our favourite hangouts because we don't have time. This was the only place." Sameer whispered his response back to his two, brother like friends.
"Bhaiya!" Poonam Bhabhi called the three of them. Everyone else had gone inside the hall.
They rushed in and immediately found three secluded chairs.
"Now, tell us what happened?" Sameer asked Munna.
"You remember Swati?" Munna began telling his story
"That girl from your maths tuition?" Pandit asked.
"Yes. The same one." Munna confirmed. "So... We have been dating for 7 years now."
"WHAT?" Sameer and Pandit got up with a jerk.
"You didn't even feel like informing us?" Sameer asked.
