CHAPTER NINE: Charlie

Charlie sat on his bed. He couldn't think straight and everything around him seemed to be moving slower than usual, though he couldn't seem to figure out as to why. Had Dr.Keagan drugged him while she had examined him? He definitely wouldn't put it past her, as she had altered his genetic structure so drastically, and most likely would experiment on him and the other teens more. Though if she had drugged him, wouldn't she have felt the needle? Charlie had felt no such sensation, so he decided that he'd have to experience some of the side-effects of his new form.

He stood up and looked around, his movements quicker than usual. Then it hit him. He was an anthro cheetah for god's sakes! What do cheetahs do? Run at accelerated speeds to hunt! Of course, moving at "normal" speed would seem slow to him! His new and altered genes told him to move quickly!

A smile spread across Charlie's face with this realization. He was learning, and he was learning quickly. Soon enough, he'd be able to get out of this space and escape. They wouldn't even be able to catch him, as cheetahs are much faster than any human could ever be. His tail twitched with anticipation. His new form could make for a great advantage in this situation, as for the future, Charlie could care less about it. There was only now, this moment, this speed.

Speaking of speed, he longed to see just how fast he could run now. He had already been pretty fast before this, so he wondered how much faster could he run? He could already picture himself running at speeds he never would've been able to reach without this experiment. Charlie's tail twitched with adrenaline.

He couldn't stay still any longer. Charlie began pacing again, making laps around the room. Maybe this change wasn't so bad. Maybe he could work with this change. Maybe, just maybe, he'd be able to look back fondly on this place. But right now, all he wanted to do was run away from it.
