"Greetings test group #512 & congratulations! You four are the first successful group of human-animal DNA combinations. To make sure you retain your humanity and human minds, you will be staying in this room together while we study you. We have both hidden microphones and hidden cameras to make sure you cannot interfere with this study. Please be aware that we have not determined what to do with you after the study is complete. Goodbye test group #512! Have Fun!" The intercoms crackled out. The Message left all four of them speechless. Lola felt as if the scientists here were just toying with her now or if maybe her father had paid them to do this so she'd never complained or resist again. The second possibility made her sick to her stomach. Before Lola could think any more about it, fox-girl spoke up. "Well if we're going to be stuck here together, I think it's a good idea to learn each other's names. You, Wolfy." The wolf-boy looked up quizzically. "Yeah, you. What's your name?" The wolf boy let out an exasperated sigh, "I'm Aaron. And you are?"
"I'm Lizzie. Now, who are you Mr. Cheetah?"
The cheetah straightened his posture before answering. "Charlie." Lizzie stared at Charlie expectantly for a while before looking in Lola's direction. "Who are you?"
"My name's Lola."
The four teens stood there for a few seconds, the rustling of leaves and the soft padding of small wildlife were the only sounds to be heard until Lola spoke up. "So are we just going to stand around awkwardly or are we going to try and survive this shithole?" Everyone's gazes shot over to Lola, boring into her. She crossed her arms, defiant under their gazes. Aaron shrugged. "The most logical thing is to work together to survive. I do not wish to die here and I believe that you all also wish to get out of here." Lizzie was the one to respond. "You're right Aaron. I certainly don't want to die here. Where do we start?" Aaron nodded, satisfied. "First, we need shelter," he announced, "We have no idea what may be lurking in these woods. We need to be safe." "So what should we do to help?" inquired Charlie. "We need to gather materials. Lizzie, you go look for flexible sticks, vines, and tall grass. Charlie, you go look for big branches that can be used to make the walls. Lola, you find leaves, twigs, and small sticks. And as for me? I'll take care of the construction of our shelter."
