The 71st Hunger Games

Chapter 19:

BOOM! The sound the cannon fills my ears. Run, get an axe. I think to myself, but then I remember what Blight said to me. I need to act like a weakling. I stumble of the metal platform and jog towards the small jungle behind me. The arena is a desert. There is a few jungles but it's mostly sand.
I slow down as I approach the jungle. The sun blazes down on me as I hop over a small stream of water that separates the sand and the jungle. Water! I think to myself, but then I remember I don't have a bottle or iodine tablets to purify the water. I grunt and lean against a tree.
After a few minutes, I stand up straight again and start walking further into the jungle. As I walk, I notice some berries. Nightlock! I grab a handful of nightlock and stuff them in to my pocket. That's when I hear the cannons. The blood bath must be over. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10... 10 people dead already. 14 left. It starts to get dark so I climb up the nearest tree and find the thickest branch. My dad taught me a trick when I started cutting down trees. He told me: If I climbed high up a tree to cut down a branch and I'm tired, I can sit straight against the tree and, luckily, my father and I always stay I the same position at night, so we can sleep upright on a tree and not fall. Hopefully I won't fall. I could brake my back bone, but I'll risk it. I was about to close my eyes, when the Capitol seal appeared in the sky. None of the careers (District 1, 2 and 4) died. A girl died in District 3, 5 (I think her name is Rodeth) and 11. A boy died in District 10, Rian Medon. Both died in 6, 8 and 12.
