The quiet took me by surprise -
That controlled silence in your eyes,
As though life lead you with its lies
And left you with unsaid goodbyes.Your hands hang loose by your sides.
Behind the faults you try to hide
Are people attempting to abide
By rules existing in your insides.Your smile was carefree and bright.
You used to emanate a light
That was my anchor in the night,
When I was in the grips of fright.Yet now you're broken and dismayed,
And your light has begun to fade.
If only this darkness was not made -
But I guess the devil must be paid.
