Dedicated to QueenGrace11 , for finishing her Wolfstar fanfiction '50 Ways to Flirt with a Werewolf'. It's adorable - I recommend you read it.

Also, yes, this is based on Wolfstar.

It doesn't really matter when my
Once-human body starts to lengthen,
And my bones crack and bind again
And dark fur thickly lines my limbs.

My eyes turn from pale amber
To something harsh and hateful
(Even if they stay the same soft shade).
My pupils tighten with loathing.

Sharp teeth, with my lips pulled back
Into a gruesome grin. Shoulders
Jutting out cruelly through my pelt.
Deadly, dangerous, disgusting.

I crouch in the shadows, waiting
For my consciousness to disappear.
He waits in the shadows, watching as
I shake through the endless agony.

Long claws rip through my flesh,
Leaving wide, crimson chasms in
Their wake, and rich rivulets of red
Roll down my coat, like liquid jewels.

Like every night, they try to drag me
Back into some form of human.
If I can't be with them in person,
At least I can try to be there in mind.

When the dawn breaks, and we awake
After a long night of battles and fun
(That's tainted with my lust for blood),
He watches me turn back into myself.

I hate it. I don't have to say so:
They can see it in the disgusted looks
And concealed winces. They can see it
In the way I try to turn them away.

I thought he might leave, because
'I might hurt you' or 'it's too much'.
I was forever waiting for him to
Turn his back, and fade like the sun.

I don't know when I knew he won't.
It doesn't really matter, though:
For even if the moon hates me,
The stars are always there,
Shining sweetly in rich, dark skies.
