CHAPTER THREE

CHAPTER THREE- q u i d d i t c h t r y o u t s

The first few days had passed quickly until the day of the quidditch tryouts. The tryouts was four o'clock and the whole team had to be there, including Y/n. For the Slytherin team it was five o'clock, hufflepuff tryouts was six o'clock and ravenclaw tryouts was the earliest, it was three o'clock. But before that was Y/n waiting patiently for Ben, that she was supposed to tutor. They were supposed to meet ten minutes ago but Ben still wasn't there, the library was huge. Tall shelves stacked with thousands of books all the way up to the roof. Divided into different sections like, invisibility section, dragon section, reference section, legal section, poetry section and the restricted section. The door to the library creaked open and in walked Ben Thickey, it seemed like he was talking to himself. And for Y/n it definitely looked that way. Y/n started by asking him a few simple potion questions and surprisingly he only got one right. Even for Y/n that had never heard of magic before she got to Hogwarts, understood the basics of potions. Based on how little knowledge Ben had, Y/n made him homework, three pages long with questions and essay writing. "When w-will you t-teach m-me to m-make a p-potion?" Ben asked, he was so adorable when he stammered. Maybe he had gone through something that made him shy and nervous or maybe he just was like that.
Y/n didn't want to be rude but there wasn't any chance that she would teach him a potion if he couldn't master the basic questions. "Sorry, but before you actually can make a potion I have to know that you can answer the basics. But if it's okay for you, we can meet again on Sunday if you want?"
She watched as Ben took in what she said to him, sadness did not cover his face. But before Ben Thickey got to answer, the door to the library creaked open again "Y/n, the quidditch tryouts are starting, you can't be late" a voice yelled. Earning a strict glare from Madam Pince as she demanded strictly "Quiet!"
Y/n stood up and packed her stuff in a hurry and left the library, leaving Ben alone. She stopped beside Rose and told her that she would meet her at the pitch. She just had to go to her dorm to get her broom. Sprinting up to the Gryffindor tower, saying the password to the painting of the fat lady so that it swung open. Y/n rushed up the spiral staircase and into the dorm which Y/n shared with Roxanne, Rose and Eloise. Before she disappeared. Beside Y/n's bed stood her broom she had anonymously gotten on Christmas Eve, it was a Starsweeper XXI and apparently it was supposed to be really good according to James.

Down at the quidditch pitch was the whole Gryffindor team, Adelaide Green was there too. She was a seventh year student and an amazing chaser, but she wanted to quit so that she could focus more on her studies and what she would do after Hogwarts. It started with the ones that was going to tryout, first they presented themselves. Then they all got on their brooms and soared into the air, Y/n looked up at Rose and the others that was trying out. They were flying in a circle, sometimes the boys dived and circled around the girls, Y/n looked over at Fred, he didn't seem so impressed. Which she could understand, since they were only flying around in circles. Fred blew in the whistle and called them down, "first we will try beaters. You will be given a bat and when you are up in the air, this will happen:" Fred said and flew up with the bat. A bludger flew towards him, he swung the bat back and hit the bludger with a loud thud! It raced quickly around the quidditch pitch before Fred stopped it and landed. Each student was given a bat and given the opportunity to become the new beater. None of the beaters on the Gryffindor team wanted to be replaced. But by the sight of how the students did, that wouldn't be a problem. Y/n was patiently waiting for the tryouts for a new chaser began, but first it had to be keepers and a seeker tryouts. Y/n knew Fred didn't want to replace her but by the rules of quidditch it's stated that: each team has to hold tryouts for all the positions, even if you already have a full team.
Finally it was time for the chaser tryouts, she leaned over to James and whispered "who do you think will take over Adelaide's place?"
"I'm hoping Rose but that guy beside her is really good" James said and pointed at at a guy with black dreads. One thing that Y/n noticed was that he always flew around Rose, she hadn't seen that guy before, not even in class. The whistle blew and the students landed. "All of you did a really great job, I will hang up the list of those who got a place in a few days" the captain Fred Weasley said.
Everyone left the pitch including Y/n and Rose, they walked together inside, it was silent between them but not an awkward one. "What were you doing in the library when I found you?" Rose asked.
"I was helping that nervous Gryffindor boy Ben Thickey with potion, I feel pretty bad for him actually. He didn't even know the answers to the basic questions" Y/n frowned, tutoring him was going to be difficult. Rose opened her mouth to say something but stopped when the same guy from quidditch tryouts stopped in front of them. "Um, are you Rose Weasley?" He asked and Rose nodded, Y/n understood that it was time for her to leave, she had to anyway. The Slytherin quidditch team tryout was starting, and Y/n wanted to watch her two best friends tryout. She headed to the quidditch pitch and up on the quidditch stands. It wasn't just Albus and Scorpius that was trying out, surprisingly Karl Jenkins was trying out too. Based on the quidditch match that was last year, Y/n knew the Slytherin team was looking for a replacement for Justin Goyle. They started to fly around and show the captain how good they were, Y/n had to admit that Karl was actually pretty good. After the tryouts headed Y/n down from the quidditch stands and over to Albus and Scorpius "soo, what did he say?" She asked
"We will be notified by the end of the day" Scorpius said, he felt like he was pretty good today. "I think this year is going to be so much better and safer than last year" Y/n said, without knowing how much that was going to change.
