CHAPTER FOUR

CHAPTER FOUR- s n e a k i n g o u t or i n ?

Out of all the places the resurrection stone could be, it had to be in Professor Potter's office. Y/n couldn't just sneak into his office, he would have seen her. Y/n knew about the invisibility cloak since she had used it before. So her only chance was to ask James. She picked up the book and left the library, James could be anywhere. Especially during the weekend. "Hey Y/n, where are you going?" A person asked. Y/n turned around and saw Avery with her curly brown hair and green eyes. Y/n smiled "I'm looking for James, have you seen him?"
Avery nodded "I was just with him, I think he went to the viaduct courtyard" she said.
Y/n thanked Avery and left her so that she could find James. Y/n walked through the entrance to the courtyard. It was a covered stone cloister with an open colonnade ran around it. A small tower made out of stone with a fountain inside stood in the middle of the courtyard. The grass had frost on it since it was beginning to get colder and the students that was there sat on blankets on the grass. Y/n saw James and some other boys playing exploding snap once again, Y/n smiled as she walked over to them. "I need to ask you something" Y/n said but James was too focused on the game to look at her. "Sure what is it?" James asked
"I'd prefer if we would talk alone" Y/n sighed, she hoped James would understand. James and the boys took a pause from the game so that he could talk to Y/n. "So what was it that you wanted to ask me about?" James asked.
"I'm sneaking out tonight and I was wondering if I could borrow the invisibility cloak and the marauders map?" Y/n asked while she looked at James with big puppy eyes. James chuckled "it's only fair that you let me join you since I let you borrow the cloak and the map" James stated as he lifted his head and stood tall. Y/n looked away, what was she going to say now. "James you can't"
James tilted his head to the side "why not?"
Y/n sighed by she still didn't look at him "because you wouldn't understand" now Y/n's voice was low and quiet, almost like a whisper. James took Y/n's hand and held it tightly "just tell me, even if I wouldn't understand"
Y/n smiled, she loved how safe he made her feel around him and that was one of the reasons they were best friends. "I have to sneak into one of the professors offices" Y/n finally told him, now she didn't lie.
"Which one?" James asked, it was obvious he wasn't giving up. "Your fathers, he has something called the resurrection stone" Y/n said but when she looked at James there was a hint of confusion. "It makes it possible for a witch or an wizard to summon someone dead to talk to them" Y/n explained. Y/n looked over at James that was still a bit confused, but it seemed like he understood a little bit more. James nodded, he had a lot more questions, but saved them till after Y/n had done what she needed.

It was around lunch time when Y/n put on the invisibility cloak and pulled out the map, Y/n checked the great hall first to see which of the professors that was there. McGonagall, Professor Sulcan and Professor Sinistra. Which meant that Professor Moon and Professors Potter was somewhere else. Y/n looked around on the map after professor Potters name, when she saw it in the defense against dark arts or DADA classroom. The DADA office was located off of the second floor corridor, near a staircase to the first floor corridor. Y/n used the grand staircase to get to the second floor, since it was moving stairs Y/n had to remember to look up and concentrate on where she was going. One of the steps disappeared just as Y/n was about to walk over it but in the last second she jumped over it and continued up to the second floor. Y/n pulled out the marauder map to see if anyone was around her, but no one was there. Y/n hurried over to the door, it was made out of wood but decorated in gold all along the curved top. Y/n pushed the door open and walked inside. The walls were covered in pictures of Albus, James, Lily and his wife. A brown desk with nothing on it except three books on the right side. Two shelves one on the left and one on the right,
Y/n looked at the marauders map to make sure Professor Potter wasn't there, his name was moving on the map and it wasn't away from
Y/n but towards her. Y/n's gaze moved from shelf to shelf but it seemed like Mr Potter had moved the resurrection stone to another place. Something caught Y/n's attention, a purple and black box, locked with a key. Y/n took out her wand and waved it in front of it while she said "Alohomora"
One 'click' and the lid on the box opened on itself, inside was the golden snitch. Carefully
Y/n took the golden ball and hurried out but made sure to lock the door with the spell 'colloportus'. Mr Potter was only a few meters away from her, Y/n's eyes scanned the marauder map in an hurry to see if she could find some secret passages or short cuts. One passage caught her attention, it was at the end of the hall. So instead of running past Mr Potter, Y/n ran away from him. When she had gotten to the end, she counted the bricks on the wall, then tapped her wand on the brick in the top left corner, two down, one in the middle and up one brick before she tapped again. One brick under the middle was the end of the password. Bricks vanished and formed into a deep and long tunnel. The entrance disappeared just as Y/n stepped inside, she followed the map until she found the exit and did the exact same pattern as she did the first time. Except now it was in an different order.
