As I waited for mom, Shane jr.,

( yep that suits him ) started barking.

"Shane jr., ssssh," I said.

"Did you call me?" Shane asked.

I jumped startled seeing him beside me.

"Oh, hey I want you to meet someone."

"Is that so"

"Yeah, Shane meet Shane jr."

Shane jr. barked assuming that, that was him. Shane chuckled and looked at me.

"That's nice,"he said smiling at me.

I heard a honk and saw mom's car coming.

"That's my call,"I said.

"Bye Shane"

"Can I call you?"

"Sure,"I said.

As I went inside mom's car mom got surprised when I brought a two month puppy with me.

"I can't take him back. The person that gave it to me like a friendly present I think, and his name is Shane jr. in honor of who gave it me."

"Ok"

"Ok?"

"Yeah, I know you'll take care of Shane jr."

"Thanks mom"

"So about the family meeting sweetie, um... how do I say this? We got deployed."

Tears filled my eyes. Did I forget to tell you my parents were in the army. Shane jr., noticed my sadness and started licking me making me smile weakly.

"Where were you deployed to?" I asked crying.

"To Iraq and your father to Vietnam for two years."

I was shocked, two years without my parents. We got home and I went directly to my room with Shane jr., I placed him on the floor and I threw myself crying on the bed. Who am I gonna stay with? Do I have to leave my friends behind? But the question that most hurt me was: Do I have to change schools? I started sobbing instead of crying. And at that moment my cellphone rang. Without even checking caller ID I answered still crying.

"Hello"

"Are you okay?"

"Yeah , yeah I'm fine Shane"

"What happened?"

"My parents got deployed to Vietnam and Iraq for two years."

"Wait, you're not leaving are you," he said sadly.

" I don't know, Shane"

"Well let me know when they tell you," he said preoccupied.

"Yeah I will and thanks."

"For what"

"For caring," I said as I hanged up the phone quickly.

Shane jr., was sleeping and I decided to bring him some food and water. As I went downstairs

Dad had already gotten home.
