Isabel POV

The air was thick and heavy. I couldn't see across too well. There was a lot of girls screaming. For some reason, I wasn't able to move faster. I felt stuck in place.

I tried to focus my sight but it didn't work so well. All I could see was the vague outline of a slender man zipping through the girls.

He looked too frantic, approaching the girls and later shoving them dead on the floor.

With that speed and power, I knew he was a vampire. The moment he acknowledged my presence, screaming felt like the only option to escape the pain.

"I will never forget his cold crimson eyes, I had to scream in my place to escape that vision, it felt too real your majesty"

"and what makes you think the two visions are related my dear Isabel"

King Adrian's disinterest was baffling me. He was fully aware that when enormous pain was associated with a vision, the future of our kind was being forced into change.

Destinies were being shifted and history that is yet to happen was being rewritten, yet his majesty was too calm and I couldn't stay still.

I took a deep breath.

"Your majesty, the pain was similar and l felt her majesty's energy forcing more pain upon me."

We were never taught to beg for solutions. We always held our own and figured out a way to reach our desired answers while remaining as calm as ever.

However, this time it was different. I knew the solution to my pain, but I had no authority to see it done. Queen Pauline should've been awake by now. The king was the only one that could see it done, but why wasn't it happening.

"Don't worry my dear, we are working out an agreement with the Mclarks for the awakening. They were very shocked and unwelcoming to the idea. After all, she is their only ranker and anything that concerns her concerns her entire bloodline."

That part made sense, but still prince John should've requested me by now. Something was not adding up and I knew our 1st rank was not willing to share.

With a warm smile, I bowed to his majesty and excused myself.

As I was walking through the hallways, every nerve in my body was ticking. I was getting more anxious by the second. It felt like I did have the authority over something but maybe not a full one.

A couple minutes of walking and I was standing in front of our bloodline's library.

Once I was inside, the smell of old paper cooled down my worries.

The library was Victorian with an endless amount of neatly stacked shelves fanning out across its three floors. The first floor was dressed with a narrow velvet forest green carpet. There was no one in the reading lounge, which was at the heart of the first floor.

I didn't know what had led me here, but there had to be a reason. Being stuck with the abilities of precognition since birth, I was a little too spiritual for the likings of others.

I directly walked towards the first heavily stuffed bookcases, across the lounge, waiting for something or someone to grab my attention.

An opened and left book it was.

"Those Who We Have Lost" I read the title to myself.

The book was not as large as the others since it was quite hard for our kind to just go. They either died in battle, got executed, requested endless sleep in the comfort of their dungeons, or got banished.

Got banished!

Maybe there was some wise banished Brothorn that could help. The king was merciless when it came to disobedience but fearful of his bloodline's extinction, thus he never executed but rather banished.

I was skimming through the list of names, waiting for another sign. Suddenly my head started to throb and unbearable pain took over.

I was having another vision.

Everything was pitch black as if I was in the middle of an endless void. I was looking left and right. There was nothing around to see.

And then I heard her voice.

"Just get it done Isabel!"

After blinking a couple of times I was back in the library with the list of banished staring back at me.

"You have no idea how hard I am trying to find a solution my queen" I cried to myself as if she was hearing me.

I sniffed my tears and started to look harder into the list until my eyes came on aunt Rezdelle's name. She wasn't a Brothorn since she was Belle's sister, my mother.

Why would we have her name in our books, and of all on the banished list.

I couldn't ask any of my parents since their bodies were peacefully resting in our dungeon. They had requested eternal sleep since life was becoming too boring, according to them. Their favourite child and king obviously wasn't going to deny their wishes. Thus, the eternal sleep spell was casted and I had no say in the matter.

Aunt Rezdelle was always charming and her charismatic character never failed to fascinate those who approached her.

I was so close to her yet I do not recall her being forced out of our residence, but rather gradually getting more distant from us.

"My sweet little Isa, I see you found an intense interest in Tragedy"

"Lord Emilio, I apologise I didn't notice you came in."

"Please Isa address me like a normal sister would, I am not Adrian."

After a long time of following rules and respecting the hierarchy set by the king, I always forget that this place is my supposed family home.

Emilio came closer and kissed me on the forehead.

"If all I'm supposed to address you better, Lady Isabel of the 4th rank"

It was my turn to smile and request my normal brother back. I might have fought my way for that rank, but Emilio is something else. He is the only one who makes me feel like we actually are a family.

I sighed and looked my brother in the eye.

"Emilio, I need to ask a favour of you."

He studied my words before holding my hand and walking us back to the reading lounge.

His all gray suit made him stand out from the old alder wood and maroon leather setting.

We sat on a large Chesterfield sofa, which gave its occupants a clear view of the library's main entrance.

After adjusting his self in place, Emilio gave me one of his warm smiles that never failed to calm me.

"I'm listening"
