Isabel POV
I knew my sudden request would lead to many questions and unfortunately I had no answers. To make the matters worse, Emilio was not a fan of wasteful expeditions.
When I had made my intentions clear that I would not be giving details of my vision or my reasoning for requesting an audience with Rezdelle, he was not very pleased to say the least.
Even though my leverage as the beloved and spoiled young sister was expiring as his mate was expecting, I knew I still held a soft spot in his heart.
"You have to give me something to work with Isa. Even if I did manage to find her, what would I have to say to summon her in a royal residence she was banished from?"
Indeed what would I have to tell her or even ask of her if he found her.
"I'm sorry Emilio, there is just so much at risk and the less you know the more I can ensure at least one person's safety"
He breathed in slowly and shook his head in slight disapproval.
"She's banished for god knows what and you know the risk involved if I am to look for her. Better yet, you know I would look for her because I too have questions, but not like this..."
I felt my heart clench, but I didn't let the disappointment surface.
"What are you suggesting?"
He glanced my direction then admired the view of the peaceful setting around him. The library was just as calm and empty as the day it was declared to be.
It was once a place were Brothorns came to learn more of their history, lineage, tales, discoveries, and much more. Unfortunately, now it stood silent with only a very few select vampires permitted entry. Of course all thanks to his highness's wishes.
As always, the reasoning was just as absurd as the declared law. He once again feared the end of his royal bloodline. He wished no harm on our written history. So, the law was made and only the seven ranks along with immediate family were allowed in.
I never took the strongest and most feared vampire, the 1st rank, the king, to fear so much for his bloodline.
Emilio cleared his throat, refocusing my attention back on our conversation.
"Maybe we should inform Adrian, just to be on the safe side"
Without much thought, I quickly rose to my feet and shouted with great disapproval in a voice that was perhaps not even mine.
"NOOO!!"
I might have took him by surprise because he was now standing straight and holding me in place to calm my very shaky frame.
"Isa calm down and just hear me out...Adrian knows you too well and it wouldn't take him long to question my absence and compel the whole kingdom for the truth if he wanted."
I tried to soothe my nerves before processing what to say next. Emilio has now clearly demonstrated were his loyalty lies and I'm glad yet disappointed.
"I didn't wish of his highness to know..." I took a quick breath before calculating my next few words.."because I was hoping to mend the bond and perhaps surprise the king with a wise woman that could change the Mclarks' mind into agreeing on our set terms for the awakening"
The moment I was finished, I felt more at peace. I was not exactly lying, indeed we did need the words of a woman I knew would be a powerhouse in the art of convincing...Her banishing must have been for something so major to be noted in our books and I wanted no needed to know why.
He looked at me and searched my eyes for a hint of dishonesty, convinced by my words he slowly walked back to his seat.
"Well now I have something to tell her"
I felt my blood run cold and my now crimson eyes sharpen at my brother who began to laugh hysterically in his seat.
With my elongated sharp nails digging through the fabrics of the sofa, I gave him a glare indicating my fury.
"Talk"
After indulging himself in his ridiculous weird inside joke, he spoke.
"Well I had to make sure your intentions were pure. Rezdelle is in a safe place far too away from this crippling residence. And before you ask, no I don't know why she got banished and no I didn't keep tabs on her. She was the one who kept checking on me and recieving updates on all of our stories every single month or so for the past decade thanks to yours truly."
He stood tall again and ready to leave, while I still remained in my seat frozen trying to wrap my head around all of this new information.
"She will be visiting me in a week, in disguise. I can arrange a meeting with her for you."
My level of functionality rose just a bit at the sound of a possible meeting and I quickly rose to my feet and squeezed Emilio in a tight embrace.
"Oh god I knew you wouldn't disappoint me but still I hate you for making me go through a rollercoaster of emotions in a span of minutes, you owe me big!"
He chuckled while hugging me back and slowly released his arms to look me in the face.
"Ten bags of B+?"
I smiled.
"Ten bags of B+ and a brand new blood slave?" He questioned in amusement.
I laughed and gave him a small nod of approval.
He straightened his suit and gave me a peck on the cheek, before excusing himself out of the library.
I sank back into my seat with a new found comfort in my heart for the turn of events.
Now I just had to wait for a week to meet our aunt.
