Arkdale is a small town of 3,627 people; now including my family and I. It's officially been one week since we moved into this modern two-story house, and I'm now leaving home for my first day at Arkdale high.
"Rob! Unless you want to be stuck figuring out this town's bus system, I suggest you get in my car because I'm leaving", I yell out to him trying to hurry him along. Truthfully speaking, I'd wait for him because I don't want to be the only new kid walking into Arkdale high; its daunting.
My parents left early in the morning for work. Mum is now working at the local hospital as a senior nurse in charge and dad left for Shanghai in the morning where he has business to attend to; I never really know what he does.
Rob comes running downstairs with his bag half unzipped, shoelaces untied and hair looking a wreck. I let out a frustrated sigh. "Seriously, how do I manage to get ready quicker than you?" I ask him.
"Sis, it looks like you just rolled on out of bed" he says whilst ruffling my hair.
I huff and look down at my appearance. I thought I looked cute, I was wearing a white floral dress with brown sandals and my brown handbag. Simple, but cute... so I thought.
My blonde hair was curled and went down to just above my waist line which looked great against my tanned skin and blue eyes.
"Right that's it, I'm leaving now. With or without you" I announce.
Rob runs to my car to make sure he gets a lift and we set off on a short 10-minute drive to Arkdale high; fearing what awaits us.

I step out of the car and feel a cool breeze on my shoulders, so I grab my denim jacket and put it on. As Rob and I walk in the front doors, all eyes are on us as if we murdered their first born. Seriously, we're new here, you don't have to stare for so long.
We walk into the administration to grab our new schedules and are greeted by a tanned skin woman who must be in her early 40's. "Hi, I'm Mrs Marino head chief of education and you must be Lila Malice and Rob Malice I presume?" she kindly asks.
"Yes, that's us", Rob speaks for the both of us whilst I smile politely.
"Alright well let me give you both a tour of the school before your first lesson. I've already notified your teachers to let them know you'll be fifteen minutes late", Mrs Marino says.

"Well, that concludes the school tour. This room here is your first lesson Lila, don't be shy, the students here are absolutely fantastic, and you'll make friends quickly" she says whilst giving me a friendly nudge towards the classroom door.
Alright, here goes nothing. Queue plastered on fake smile filled with nerves.
