Her hair was long and thick, with brown and blond highlights that reflected off her golden-brown skin tone.  Her eyes were green and full of hope, maybe hurt throughout her short life.  Her lips were soft and inviting.   She faked smiled at customers for a mere fifteen dollars an hour.  She had a blue blouse on that barely showed her almost exposed cleavage. Her figure was covered in a black crushed velvet skirt that sat below her knees.  It was a busy night and only her first week on the job.  Katelyn who hired Leyah was assessing her customer service skills and seeing if she was a good fit in the fragrance department, even though she specifically asked to be placed in the makeup department in her interview. She had already sold above her sales target for the night.  It was Christmas and everyone was buying perfume for their loved ones.  Mostly male shoppers who didn't have a clue what to buy their female counterparts.  Thoughtless, lazy gifts Leyah said under her breath.  Leyah saw Bryan coming from the front of the store he stood out amongst the other boring customers.  His height and the way he walked pass them was so domineering and attractive, he looked like he didn't have a care in the world.  He stood before her, his head down and eyes hidden under his cap.  There was an old lady trying on an Estée Lauder perfume that had been around since the eighties.  He smiled and pretended he was interested in some cologne when another sales assistant approached him.  Leyah could tell he was waiting for her to serve him.  His eyes were so aggressive, she felt him ripping through her clothes exposing her.  The old lady wandered off to the side trying on another perfume from JPG.  Bryan moved up to the counter.  "Hi, I'm Bryan," he said confidently, his smile was death defying.

"How can I help you?"  Leyah asked, smiling uncontrollably at how cute he was.  Bryan shuffled and leaned in on the counter bending his six-foot two body over and placing his shopping bag down.  His muscular arms were on display, tensed with a tattoo that was only half visible to her eye.  "So, I need to get some perfume for my mamma, which one do you suggest?" She hated when customers asked her for suggestions, she always pointed to the most expensive perfume this usually forced them to make their own choice.

Leyah pointed to a red bottle, "this is really beautiful, it's just come out for Christmas.  The only problem is that it's not on sale right now."  Leyah was seventeen, but Leyah knew men and how they operated.  She knew he was going to spend his last cent to get that perfume, not to impress his mother or his girl at home.  No, he was impressing Leyah, he wanted her to know that money meant nothing to him.   Bryan leaned forward and asked Leyah what her name was.  She smiled and showed him her badge.

"Leyah, that's a beautiful name.  Are you from around here?" Bryan flirted.  Bryan was heading to the jewellery department when he noticed Leyah standing there.  He literally took three steps back and changed his mother's gift because he saw her.

She hesitated and ignored his question, as she noticed her manager Katelyn come up behind him.    Katelyn was quickly interrupted by the little old lady, as Leyah turned her attention back to Bryan.

" Yea, I'm from the East side."  He grinned, like each piece of information about her was getting him one step closer to solving the crime.  Bryan asked how much the bottle of perfume cost?  " That's three hundred dollars," Leyah answered.  Bryan turned his attention to his friends who came around the corner, he looked much younger once his friends arrived.  His manly presence was now replaced with a young naive child who wanted to show off to his boys.  Leyah smiled as they laughed about his poor efforts to draw her in.

"Can I please get your number?"  He begged, just bypassing all the foreplay that he had planned out in his mind.  Leyah wrote her number on the back of the perfume card, she thought he was cute and handed it to him before Katelyn came from around the corner.  Bryan walked away with a sense of confidence.  Leyah shook her head and smiled while straightening the perfumes on the counter.  Katelyn gave her a concerning look and continued straightening the wallets that were on display.
