Bryan caught up to Justin as they headed towards the arcade. "Hey bruh, what's going on?" Bryan had called him and asked him to meet. He looked down as they walked, "Leyah's pregnant," he whispered.
Justin stopped walking, "what the fuck? How the hell...".
Bryan stood there with his cap down covering his eyes as he breathed out. "I can't look after a kid, I'm a fucking kid myself." he said as if just realising this.
Justin touched his shoulder, "shit, and I thought I had problems." He smirked. "How's Leyah doing though?" He asked.
"I don't know, I haven't spoken to her. She's getting the abortion on Monday." Bryan said slowly in a sad voice.
"Fuck man!" Justin yelled. "Man, I can't believe that you would get caught up in this mess. I don't know what to say. I can't even give you any good advice right now. "I mean, whatever decision you make, will affect you for the rest of your life. You have to make the right the decision man." Justin couldn't believe how stupid Bryan was, how could he let this happen?
Bryan felt so sick inside his gut, he loved Leyah, but he knew he was too young for a kid. He did everything right, one hundred percent always using protection. Was he that unlucky?
Denise sat in Bryan's apartment waiting for him that night that he went on his first date with Leyah, she thought it would be a good opportunity to surprise him. He stood her up, they were supposed to catch up tonight and her voice and text messages were going unanswered. She loved Bryan he was everything she wanted, he was gentle and caring. she knew they had only been together for a few weeks, but everything moved so quickly, and she liked it. He was so handsome, and tall, she liked that the most. Both her sister husbands were short, it was so unappealing to her. She reached for his T-shirt and put it on wearing nothing underneath. Her beautiful dark chocolate locks lay down her back. She was pretty, Hispanic with an olive complexion. Five foot six and a cute body that she worked out all the time.
She had been in love once before to Troy, but it didn't work out he even put a restraining order against her, she understood why though, he did it because he couldn't stand to see her with someone else, she thought. He didn't know what he wanted, unlike Bryan. Bryan had dreams, they even talked about how they would get married one day and have kids, well she had told him how both her sisters were married, and he said, "one day you will make a beautiful bride." She knew he was hinting about them. She sat on his bed smelling his pillows, he smelled so distinctive, so manly. She breathed in the pillow even more as she rolled on to her side and noticed a little purple box on his side table. She opened the box and like a jack in the box hundreds of condoms came spurting out. She laughed to herself, then thought about it. She ran to her purse and pulled out a safety pin and started poking holes in each condom packet. She was twenty-six years old; she was ready to get pregnant. "They may have been the first to get married, but I will be the first to have a child." She said quietly as She poked about five little holes in each packet and put them on the top of the pile. She prayed to God, "God if you want this to be, then please let it be." She said out loud while shaking the box around like a raffle. There was a noise at the door. She quickly put the pin on her T-shirt grabbed the bottle of champagne that she got from her bag, took off the light and hid behind the front door, waiting on him like an animal in the night. He walked through the door, "surprise!" She yelled.
Bryan sat down with his mother in the planned parenthood clinic, it was small with white walls and a counter with a friendly elderly lady sitting behind. On the coffee table there were pamphlets about contraception, depression and anxiety and sexually transmitted diseases. Bryan hated being there, he felt his heart ache, his mother held his hand. It was already four 4:25 and Leyah wasn't there yet. Bryan played out so many scenarios in his head, how he would be as a father. If he stopped school and worked, would he resent the child? Would he resent Leyah? Missing out on being a football star, he had worked so hard to get where he was.
