That Way

"Hello?" Ronnie answered her phone after the 3rd ring

"Hey princess, how are you?" He asked and she smiled big and bright

"I'm just fine. I miss you so much," she told him and he smiled even though she couldn't see him

"I'll fly back there right now," he told her and she laughed

"That's complicated and irrational," she replied and she listened to every word that he said, hanging on to every syllable and the deep, smooth caress of his voice

He had taken two weeks off to go out to Florida to see his family, and tell them about Ronnie and she was a bit nervous, but she missed Roman dearly, it had been 12 days since she last saw him, but he's been with two calls every day. One at random and the other before he went to bed

She got dressed and went to school, meeting with Seth, Dean and Finn at the lunchroom before they all would head for their classes.

"You okay V?" Seth asked, playfully elbowing her and she smiled

"Yup I'm good," she replied, elbowing him back. Seth was the only one who knew about her and Roman and he knew how much she missed him

She was wearing one of his hoodies with a pair of leggings, it was a black one with the word 'Empire' on the front, paired with her black leggings, she looked normal with the slightly bigger hoodie. She couldn't help it, the hoodie smelt just like him and every time she inhaled, she felt her senses swirl, she was so in love with him

She sat with Dean during their free period of Literature and she just listened to Dean ramble while she stared idly at Roman's empty desk

"Ronnie? You okay?" He asked and she finally looked at him

"Yeah yeah, why?" She asked and looked back at the table but Dean didn't reply, just shrugged and continued talking

Ronnie sighed and nodded or hummed at appropriate intervals. She was missing Roman so much, she missed hugging him and kissing him, it amazed her just how much she had grown attached to him in such a short period of time

When she was home, Roman called her again around 9 to tell her he was about to go to sleep and they talked for a while before they hung up and Ronnie then realized the times that they talked on the phone, she always forgot to tell him she loved him

So in that instance, she decided she would write him a song, she was good at that, putting her thoughts and emotions to paper

She thought about Roman, what he was and what he represented in her life and wrote the first 3 words of what would be Roman's song

"Tall, dark and Superman,"

By the time the 2 weeks were over, and Roman was back, Ronnie was so incredibly happy and overcome with joy that her love was back and she had finished his song

She was over at his house, with him laying on his bed with his glasses resting gently on his nose, and loose strands of his hair framing his face and he looked so concentrated and adorable. The only thought she had was how could someone be so perfect?

She picked up her guitar which she brought with her and started strumming, making him jump slightly and then look at her with a smile and a head tilt

"Tall, dark and Superman, he puts papers in his briefcase and drives away to save the world or go to work, it's the same thing to me, he's got his mother's eyes, his father's ambition, I wonder if he knows how much that I miss him
I hang on every word you say,"  Roman looked at her and smiled with love in his eyes

"You'll smile and say "How are you?"
And I'll say "Just fine" I always forget to tell you I love you, I love you, forever," Roman began getting teary

"I watch superman fly away, you got a busy day today, go save the world
I'll be around, I watch superman fly away, come back, I'll be with you someday, I'll be right here on the ground, when you come back down,"

"Tall, dark and beautiful, he's complicated, he's irrational but I hope someday he'll take me away and save the day, something in his deep brown eyes has me saying, he's not all bad like his reputation and I can't hear one single word they say," he chuckled at the cracks about him in the verse

"You'll leave, got places to be and I'll be okay, I always forget to tell you I love you, I loved you from the very first day," there were the teary eyes again

"I watch superman fly away, you got a busy day today, go save the world,I'll be around, I watch superman fly away, come back, I'll be with you someday, I'll be right here on the ground, when you come back down,"

"And I watch you fly around the world, and I hope you don't save some other girl, don't forget, don't forget about me
I'm far away but I never let you go, I'm lovestruck and looking out the window, don't forget, don't forget where I'll be," at this verse, Roman put his hand on her thigh and shook his head

"I watch superman fly away, you got a busy day today, go save the world, I'll be around, forever and ever, I watch superman fly away, I swear I'll be with you someday, I'll be right here, on the ground, when you come back down, when you come back down," she smiled as she finished

"That was the most beautiful thing ever princess," he said, yanking her in a hug

"Thank you," he said repeatedly kissing all over her face making her giggle

Roman couldn't believe it as he watched Ronnie sleep next to him, she wrote him a song about him being her Superman, she'd never know just how much that meant to him and he vowed to do anything for her to always think of him that way
