"Do you see them?" I asked.
"Yep. Hold on, I'm going to try to lose them."
Ashton speed up, the speedometer continuing to rise. 75, 85, 100, 115, 130 mph and it didn't stop. The rest of the cars were turning into a blur as we gained more speed. Ashton zig zagged in between cars but our followers were still on our tail.
After driving for another half hour we lost 1 car but the other two were still close behind.
"We need to do something else. This isn't working and we can't do this forever." I said.
"Don't you think I know that." Ashton replied his face turning into a more angry scowl.
He turned off the highway onto a much less busier road. Before long there were no cars near us except our followers.
"I need you to shoot them. I'm surprised they haven't shot us yet."
I took the sniper out of Ashton hand which was holding the gun and decided I would shoot at the tires to take out anyone who is in the car. From the looks of it there are a few people.
I stuck my head out the window and when they saw the sniper in my hand a person of their own also took their gun out. I shot once at the tire but it was slightly off to the left. I shot a few rounds again and they hit the tire. The car spun out of control but before it did we were getting pounded with bullets. One broke the backseat window. Glass shattered everywhere and one went into my arm.
As badly as it hurt I didn't scream or cry. I took the glass out and ripped off a piece of my jacket to stop most of the bleeding. It seemed to be working for now but I don't know how long it will last. It looks like it might need stitches.
I looked back at Ashton and I only saw a few scratches. No blood so that's good.
When I looked back outside I saw the first car we lost had caught back again.
"Ashton." I said in a warning tone.
"I'm thinking!" He yelled.
I looked back outside and the road was familiar. I thought deeply until I remembered why.
"The waterfall!"
This was a different route and one I normally didn't take but it still led to my same special place.
"What the hell?! We are being attacked and you're thinking about waterfalls!" He yelled again.
"Let me drive."
"No, I have a plan."
"Don't lie. I have a plan and I need to drive."
"No." Ashton said.
"Let me drive."
"I'm not moving." He said stubbornly.
"Fine." I started to crawl over to the driver seat and sat in his lap.
"What the hell?!" He yelled again. I swear he has a yelling problem.
"I asked to drive and you wouldn't move. This is what happens when I need to do something."
I took the steering wheel out of his hands and stepped on the gas. His hands found their way to my waist and rested them there. Which makes sense, most places are covered in glass. I didn't even know glass could shatter everywhere in the car. Literally.
I knew it was only a few more minutes until we arrived. The cars shot at us a few more times but I managed to avoid them with my awesome driving skills.
We finally made it. I drove off the road and parked it before grabbing the sniper and started running. Ashton quickly followed. I ran deeper and deeper into the woods and Ashton was never more than a few feet behind me. Unfortunately our stupid followers were right behind us as well.
We finally came up upon the waterfall and I ran around to the front of the rocks and climbed behind the falling water.
"What is this place?" Ashton whispered so our followers wouldn't hear.
"My special place." Neither of us spoke for a moment trying to catch our breaths quietly from the long sprint.
"I have a plan. We need to separate up our friends first though. I'll shoot them from up here and you'll drag them behind the bushes at the bottom. This way they won't suspect anything because there dumb assholes." I said.
"That's actually not a half bad plan."
"Thanks." I replied sarcastically.
Ashton snuck down to the bottom and started throwing rocks to distract our followers. I picked up the gun and got ready to make a kill again.
I watched a man come around the corner and pointed the gun at him. I pulled the trigger as soon as I made sure to silent the gun and killed him. He was dragged under the bushes while I waited for the next person. It continued like this until only one person remained.
She was smart enough to realize that all her gang members were gone, and not because they wandered off. As she took out her gun I loaded the sniper with the last bullet. One little rock fell and landed in the water with a small splash.
I saw her gaze wander up and she saw me. She raised her gun and before I could move out of the way she shot. The bullet hit me in the shoulder and was bleeding badly. I ripped off a piece of my shirt and tied it up. The blood was now mixing with my wound from earlier.
Without another thought I used my other arm to adjust the gun and shot her. She was turned around looking the other way. I'm guessing she thought she killed me, well not today bitch. The bullet hit her heart and she dropped just like everyone else.
I started to climb down and fell when I accidentally moved my shoulder. The pain was unbearable. It felt like someone put a bunch of fireworks in the wound and lit them up. I landed in the bushes on top of one of the bodies.
"Aaaahhhhh!" I screamed from the pain and the fact that I landed on a dead person.
"Are you ok? Are you ok May?"
I can't even answer Ashton as tears started to roll down my face. The salt from my cries stung my shoulder even more.
Ashton helped me up and put one arm around my waist to help me walk and I grabbed the sniper with my non hurt shoulder. We were half way there when we both heard something behind us. Ashton pushed my back against a tree careful not to hurt my shoulder.
We waited and waited for 10 minutes. After awhile all my adrenaline had stopped and I was beginning to realize how close Ashton was to me. His body was against mine pushing us as close as we can to the tree. His hands on my hips.
Ashton turned his head and found me staring at him but that didn't stop me. I noticed his brown hair that was shining in the moon light. His sharp jawline also stood out in the dark. Lastly I looked into his forest green eyes and found him staring into my blue eyes. I suddenly felt on fire wherever he was touching me, and that was about my whole front side.
He leaned in slightly when I saw someone behind him. I gripped the sniper in my hand and slowly changed positions with Ashton. As soon as we switched all the way I quickly turned around and knocked the person out right as Ashton noticed him. I hit him a few more times to kill him when I knew he was an enemy. Ashton just stared at me.
"Let's go home. I'm tired." I said feeling slightly dizzy. Suddenly everything turned black and I felt myself falling. The last thing I felt was the pain from landing on my shoulder. And someone picking me up.
