Shit. It was that girl from school. The one she had seen walking with Peridot. Lapis quickly averted her eyes, nervously fumbling with her handful and dropping them.

The girl looked up, leaning down to help Lapis pick them up. She handed them to her with a nonchalant grin.

No wonder Peridot likes this girl so much. She seems pretty cool. Lapis cleared her throat. "Thanks."

"No problem." The girl pushed her long hair off of her shoulders and extended her hand. "I'm Amethyst, by the way. I go to school with you."

Lapis hesitantly shook it. "Yeah. I'm Lapis."

Amethyst nodded. "I know."

Lapis looked confused. "How?" She momentarily thought back to Peridot.

Amethyst got a devious smirk on her face. "Peridot told me all about you."

Wonderful. Lapis rolled her eyes. "What, did she tell you what a horrible time she had with me before asking you out?"

Amethyst backed up a bit. "What? Asking me out?" She burst out laughing. "Ha! That's hilarious! Me and Peridot? We're just friends, dude, chill."

Lapis felt a pang of guilt in her heart. "Just friends, huh? Then how do you know about me?"

"Are you kidding? She's crazy about you. I've seriously never seen her this happy and...kind of weird before." Amethyst picked up a couple of things. "Anyways, it was nice to finally meet you. Peridot's worried sick, by the way." She headed to the checkout counter.

Lapis' face flushed a dark red. Crazy...about me? A simper crept its way onto her face.
